From what I hear he was a horrible actor.

I don’t know if he got any other mainstream films after Aashiqui that became a hit or got talked about. I have seen songs with him and Karishma but I think that was before Karishma hit it big so he got nothing out that. He also did bunch of off beat type movies with Pooja Bhatt directed by her dad and all of those flopped too.

This is true. Rahul was never a good actor. He is still known only for good songs in Bhatt films.

Otherwise there was no gravitas or talent in him nor improvement and I do not remember other makers giving him much work.

He was no hottie nor loved. Songs becoming hits does not mean actor was loved.

I was only eight (almost nine) when Aashiqui came out. The movie and its songs were massive hits. But I don't think Rahul Roy was embraced as some big heartthrob. He was decent looking, but I thought he looked like a vampire. One of my closest friends crushed on Deepak Tijori instead. He had a great head of hair though and brought back longer hairstyles for guys back in fashion.

Also Aashiqui gave us the greatest gay love song of Bollywood. Delete Anu Agarwal and the female parts - this is Rahul Roy crooning his love for Deepak Tijori.
