What? Bhandarkar Oriental research is very renowned and trusted not only for their translations of Mahabharata but other scriptures. Read it and you will understand the difference between Close to original text and folktales.

The Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute, Pune, was founded on July 6, 1917, in honor of the work of Ramakrishna Gopal Bhandarakar, the foremost pioneer of scientific Orientology in India.

Well if 2000+ year old stuff is modern for you then cant help

Also irrespective of who believes there remains only one Mahabharata that Vyasa composed about which we are saying you like or don't

Since kartik has arrived Delhi, I think he will be karna. May be I am going overboard, but there are chances of him joining DJ against yuvika as the same way karna allied kauravas..

Yes he seems to be Karna because his initials are same as Karna and Karna is the only major character yet left to be introduced.

Aside Kartik is very much own of Nagars but still not a family, like Karna was their brother but still not a Pandava.

Thing to check is how and when will DJ befriend Kartik because DJ is very class conscious and calls his cousins Fatichar because of their background.

But actually, Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institue did a research to find out which could the interpolated verses. They collated manuscripts from all corners of India (even Indonasia) checked on which are less commonly featuring verses and eventually came up with Critical Edition of Mahabharat. This entire exercise took over 48 years (1917-1966). They reduced from 2 lakh verses in some recession to 90 thousand verses using these methods, thats considered pretty close to original Vyasa's works (although we never would know what is absolutely correct)
