Shah Rukh Khan may have earned a name for himself playing romantic roles and NRIs. And many people feel Shah Rukh Khan can't go beyond the chocolate boy roles. But Karan Johar has always had immense faith in SRK's acting abilities. And this time round Karan wants SRK to play an autistic character in KJo's next venture My Name is Khan.
All of us remember the celebrated film Rain Man (1988) where Dustin Hoffman plays an autistic character. In fact Raymond (Dustin Hoffman) was a huge source of 'inspiration' for Hrithik Roshan before Koi Mil Gaya.
According to Mumbai Mirror "SRK can't wait for the film to begin. He is very excited about playing this different character." Autism is a developmental disorder, which begins in childhood. Impaired communication, excessive rigidity, and emotional detachment are some of the characteristics of autism.
"However, he will have to wait since My Name Is Khan is a bit delayed. Karan had allowed Aditya Chopra to start Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi first, so SRK will first free himself from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (opposite the 19-year old Bangalorean newcomer Anushka Sharma) and then get on to this challenging role," the Mumbai Mirror source added.
Guess after Chak De India and Swades earned him a huge amount of critical acclaim SRK is looking forward to more meaty roles of these kind.
