How do they celebrities pretend like ppl actually know them? Like because of their stardom they are choosen for projects / products ..? If you put Hollywood, korean celebrities in front of me, I wouldn't even know who is who, or if even they are celebrity or not?

Indeed, western audiences often confuse people of color. But PR is capitalizing on these confusions to make everybody talk.

Why not both? They probably sent a fluff piece, the journalist probably saw the RRR bit and added the Oscar performance. It's not exactly uncommon for western journalists to confuse all Asian actresses.
