Siraj and Shami drew false responses 21 times in 12 overs, Umesh and Thakur 13 times in 11 overs. it showed in how the run rate jumped once the first spells ended. Twenty-nine came in the first hour, 44 in the next. India slightly lucky with the David Warner wicket towards lunch. They have one new batter to bowl at after lunch. Will they look to split Shami and Siraj in the second session to allow them longer control?

Seems like a rather strange decision to leave Ashwin out given he has often troubled the top 6 aussie batsmen. Lets hope it doesnt cost us the game.

He was maybe a touch guilty of being on the shorter side in the first session. This one, though, is a ripper. Full ball just outside off, not far from a half-volley and so Labuschagne can't resist the drive. He looks to go down the ground, but the ball jags in sharply. I can understand wanting to have Jadeja, but Ashwin is such a good Test player. I don't understand why they have Shardul in the lineup but not him 😐

And that too when we're playing Aus. He could've been a vital asset... but they always insist on benching him 😪
