whatever you think of Gandhi, the person, his public policies were facked up. He and his charkha spinning ways would have kept India in the medieval ages. The fact that Veer Savarkar was kept in cellular jail in solitary confinement for so many years while Gandhi was kept in Agakhan palace for his imprisonment should be proof in and by itself as to who the British thought was a threat to their rule.

As to letters written by Veer Savarkar; why should he not write a letter asking for forgiveness to get out of jail? There is nothing he could've contributed to his country while in jail.

Absolutely nothing wrong with the letter. Very smart and shrewd instead of pretending to be a saint and die in jail he chose to write a petition to get out.

I guess people living a free, luxurious life are unable to fathom what it might been like in the Andaman jail.

If you are asking my personal opinion about these leaders …I dont have huge respect for extremists people ..and in my understanding Savarkar is one and hence I dismiss him not coz Bose was against him . So, the comparison of gandhi vs bose etc doesnt make sense to me in this context coz even if they had different methods they were not extremists .. so I dont dismiss Gandhi or Bose or Bhagat Singh.

Lets not forget that Gandhi for all his virtues believed in caste system(even giving the untouchables a special name) and also did not have pleasant words to say about Africans.

Veer Savarkar on the other hand wanted caste demolished and even said Hindus should eat beef( I personally do not agree with the latter).
