Now I realise why my grandmother used to call films a kanjarkhana and had banned my mom and uncles from listening to filmi songs on radio and banned film magazines at home and hated us for watching TV too.

I have heard earlier, people looked down upon movies and this industry and considered watching films as bad as going to kotha.

And families would disown kids if they wanted to enter film industry.

I have also seen a Mithun interview where he spoke how this profession was looked down upon and people do not sell house or rent house to film star nor admit their kids to school as they thought they would spoil society. Now I see why.

This is HONESTLY disgusting. Reminds me of LIFE magazine photos of screen tests in India where women were made to take off clothes and walk in mere inner wear in front of producers.

Now I see why kids from good families stayed away from films or why seeing films was seen as a vice, film magazines were banned at homes and some people allowed their kids to watch films only after growing up, completing studies and getting married.

My nani told me that in their times only married couples would get permission to watch films in theatres. No one else.

I totally understand why earlier no one allowed families to see films nor married anyone from this industry. This looks like an extended brothel of sorts.
