Not with that atrocious voice modulation, no DP will not make it anywhere past BW. Alia might if she can neutralize her accent on screen and stop screeching.

PC has totally changed the way she speaks and does not act like a typical Indian and neither shies away from doing intimate scenes as needed.

I agree on Alia's style of talking. Too juvenile for my taste. IDK if anyone abroad will find her adorable as Indians do.

I think Deepika has good looks and body to make it abroad if she wants to. But her accent could be an issue.

I have a few Indian ladies here as friends in LA where I live and they weren't fans of PC earlier. But that's changed. They adore her now.They say that she is the one persona that represents Indian women on an international podium in a classy manner. That it helps change the perspective of Westerners towards Indian women. What PC did, was a big favor to so many women from India that want to kill it abroad, be it in entertainment, theatre or corporates. It helps change perspective about them. What Aish did, was anything but a favor.

PC in the true sense stood upto the 'Miss World' tag. She got out of her comfort zone and walks anywhere like she owns it, while also respecting the culture of a foreign land, humbling herself to learn it and to assimilate.

Aish was just better off as 'Miss India'.😆

I could've seen someone like Lara Dutta do well in HW, if she tried to during her prime. She's got the persona for HW.

It’s interesting, North Americans have heavily stereotyped Indians. It’s either osho or in the past trolling the Indian accent like the Simpsons.

I’d wager many don’t find the Indian accent remotely sexy, I’m not painting everyone with one colour but just saying quite a majority will not say it outright but subliminally don’t connect to it.

So with that in mind, no.

Also it’s so tragic, that these actresses have looked so amazing in terms of fashion in BW movies and red carpet but somehow when they go abroad wear hideous outfits and look bad. I really wonder why
PS: I really feel more BW actresses should try for TV shows where they may not play the main lead but a strong anti hero or important character. TV shows esp if they are popular give so much more scope for an actor to appeal to an audience. Also HW movies are shit compared to movies. If they ever bagged something huge at HBO now that’s a winner for them.

There is Asian representation but in their accents. Not like brown people haven’t done well they have but only if they are moulded in that American accent.

In the UK it’s far easier I feel as desi culture is very well known there but in America much harder.

Alia wont make it. She is a decent actor but nowhere near to amazing or outstanding as this industry portrays her... Kjo doesn't have the pull toforce hw to accept his bullshitt...

And she just doesn't have the body or face to pull off majority of the roles .. Maybe a sweet girl next door kind of romcom but then also I'm not sure.

Lara Dutta was one Indian woman the world deserved to see more..an absolute stunner..she stunned everyone with her MU final answer and everytime i see PC/DP or Aish in any of these interviews with Opreh, Ellen etc. i could only think how amazing Lara would have been there..

PC is the best of the lot which so far inc Aish, Dp and Alia but she is highly pretentious..Dp was actually pretty good in her interview with Ellen..there was just no pretense and I loved that about her..

Aish was the worst of them all..she and her stereotypical representation of desi women was cringe..she sounded arrogant and she literally put these women ,trying to make a name internationally, in the same box they have been stuck since ages..we don't do kissing scenes..they put a song in place of that..wth..you yourself did kissing scenes..and most of the movies around that time had kissing scenes..so what all was she shitting about..and we live with our parents..we don't take appointments for dinner..oh just cut the crap..she acted so pompous..and this is not even true for so many of the desis out there..many want to live independently..and are living independently..so please..i am glad she is not in HW anymore coz she was just embarrassing and did so much more damage by only enhancing the stereotypes desis are already stuck in that too on a global level..

No. They don't have what it takes, which is confidence, ambition and talent.

Priyanka Chopra has all 3 and that's why she made it. No matter what people on this forum call her, whenever any of my relatives or Indian people talk about her here in the US, they always say that she didn't just try, but she made it. And it's not easy to make it in HW.

Heck not just Indians, I have so many chinese and white friends who know her.
