Story Rearrangmnt vs Replacmnt- My Views and Yours Please

okay so officially the 9 month anniversary of dmg is ruined for me and many others ......
i'm not going to comment on Shilpa leaving ........ at the end of the day i was one of those people who understood his point of view when Rajeev left KTH and LRL so i'm not going to drop my principles no matter how much i want Shilpa to stay - if her true happiness is in leaving ....... all i can say is that i really hope it is true happiness that she gets .............
but my biggest problem with this whole thing ................... is the replacement - not the actress but the whole idea of a "replacement"
why? ..... why? ....... why? ........................ why must a new actress be brought in to play that role? ............... if she's leaving .............. why can't there be an entirely different track all together? ................... why can't the other couples get more of chance for a while? ....................... why can't a new character be brought in gradually? .......................... i mean i don't want her to go at all ............. but if she must .................... why must she be replaced? ..............
i would personally rather see a completely new character and be able to keep the memories of riddhima in tact with Shilpa's face ............... i had said earlier in the Heaven that i had a seriously disturbing and sad thought and that i should leave ............. it was because all of a sudden a flash of Armaan operating on Riddhima after an accident and failing had come into my mind and it had seriously given me the chills ....................... at the time i hadn't wanted Armaan to loose Riddhima forever in that way ...................
but now i'd rather have that .................... you may all disagree if you'd like but i don't want to see a new face play the character of Dr. Riddhima Gupta ....................... because that means that all the memories we have of Armaan and Riddhimawill be re-written - re-shot, with a new face ................ all the song sequences, all the dream sequences, all the dance sequences will have to either completely forgotten or be re-shot ................... they might have been already - we don't even know ................... we know that Karan has been sick and shooting a lot lately - maybe he's been shooting old scenes again with a new actress to be used in the future ........................
i hate the concept of "plastic surgery" in tv shows and i'm sure it won't be used here but for once if it was i would be glad that at least they wouldn't try to re-write history and basically make us erase Shilpa's face from our memories of Armaan and Riddhima
i'm sorry that this is so long ............. and i'm sorry because i know many of you won't agree with me in saying this ......................... but if Shilpa is leaving, the character of Dr. Riddhima should be gone as well - because even more than errors, bloopers, inconsistencies, illogicalities, or whatever other problems people have had with this show, i have a problem with having to erase 9 months worth of memories from my head and get myself accustomed to a new person and with having to just superimpose that new person on top of Shilpa in any and every scene that i've ever watched .....................
i'm not saying this because i feel that a new actress will not be any good - for all i know, with all the bollywood actors coming onto tv, it could be Aishwaryia Rai Bachchan, Rani Mukherji, Kareena Kapoor, Preity Zinta, or Katrina Kaif doing the role - but my sentiments would remain the same................. my only stand in this is that i don't want to have to erase Shilpa's portrayal (good or bad) from my view of Armaan and Riddhima in order to continue watching the show ............
and i don't want to stop watching the show either because Karan, Pankit, Sunaina, Mayank, Drushti, Ayaz, Sonia, Shilpa (Padma) and Monish are all still there and i personally didn't know of Shilpa when this show started and knew five of the people i listed above ........... but no matter who disagrees with me i truly loved Shilpa's portrayal of Riddhima .................. i'm not saying she's the only actress who could have ever played Riddhima in all of eternity ............. but for me she brought the character to life ..................... and i would personally rather see her character's life end than have to watch another actress try to make us feel like it is her that we've been watching for the past 9 months worth of episodes ............... that isn't really fair to the new actress either ..................... we've all seen how long it has taken for audiences to accept new faces ......... and although after a while they may have succeeded to some extent, it took them a very long time and no matter who has been the replacement, the original has not been forgotten easily ...........
i know many people on the forum were critical of Shilpa's portrayal of Riddhima, and there were many who were appreciative of it ................ but at the end of the day, liked or disliked we've been with Shilpa's rendition of Dr. Riddhima Gupta for the past 9 months and i sincerely hope i am not the only one who feels that having a new actress play the character of Riddhima will not only be akward for the audiences but for the show in general .......... this is not about Shilpa's fans leaving the show and a new batch of fans watching it for the new face ....................... this has to do with fans of the entire show being accustomed to one thing ........................ yes variety and change are the spice of life but i'd rather eat bland food than have this sort of spice .............
i repeat i would really rather they end Riddhima's character and bring an entirely new character to the show ...................... yes i understand that this would mean that Anjali wouldn't have a sister, Padma and Shashank wouldn't have one daughter, Armaan would loose the love of his life .......................... but if done correctly this would probably lead to a better story overall than just a mere replacement ......................
i hate it when audiences are assumed to have the memory of a pea, i.e., non-existent, and are expectedto easily forget actors ............... i'm sorry i can overlook a lot of things and have because at the end of the day dmg put a smile on my face because i was able to remember the good times and look forward to them reappearing ..................... but now with a new face i will still remember those times and will have to stop and remind myself that those times will not appear again ............ at least not in the same way - the original mood of the scenes i loved will be different from that of a re-shot or doctored (no pun intended) scene
when Muskaan left the show, her character Dr. Sapna, was brought to a logical end ....... i wish that this same approach would be used here ................... and for the producers, creatives, etc ................. doing so would not mean that you are "giving in" or "bowing down" or giving Shilpa too much importance (i've heard many producers etc say this before in similar situations) ................... doing so would mean maintaining the character and story that you so lovingly had created from your imagination and that had entered and entertained our hearts for all these months .................... as i have said that i will continue to watch this show for as long as i can for the others who have worked just as hard as Shilpa and i honestly would feel the same way if any of the other characters was removed because i've said this many a times and will repeat it here, i feel that the casting of this show was absolutely amazing and fit perfectly and i would not want to see this happen with any of the characters ............... yes i agree that Dr Sapna's character was not the central character ............. but that is even more important to note ......... side characters are usually "replaced" (i'm cringing at the word now) more easily than main characters ............... so if this show had set the trend of working these changes into the show to make a flowing story ........... why can't this trend continue?
let me put it this way for anyone who doesn't understand why i feel the way i do (to clarify - not to push my point of view on you) .......... if i was watching a three hour movie and the actor/actress was just replaced afte the intermission ............. i wouldn't like it no matter how good the second actor/actress is ....................... and that is a movie that would only take up three hours of my life ........................ this show has taken up the equivalent of 9 months of our lives ................. so to just accept a new face is not an easy thing to do unless there is some way of retaining the original
so i guess i'm asking for the story to be carried forward in a way that the sentiments of the fans and their memories is respected, considered, and cherished ................ i understand that this may be hard as it seems that there is very little time left for this "replacement" to occur ................... but i guess this is my little effort
i guess i'm also asking that we all be a little careful of how we react to this news .............. just writing off Shilpa and saying that we'll watch no matter what won't help ............. nor will just quitting watching the show .................. writing her off means that the past 9 months of her wonderful (in my opinion) portrayal of the character can be erased from you memory like files from a hard-drive .............. and if you agree - even that isn't a great analogy since the bits and pieces of the files remain scattered and can be pieced together again ........................ and just quitting watching the show won't help because we will have left an unresolved situation and we'll be hurting the wonderful actors who are still there .......................
if this thread remains open - i would love to know how many of you understand where i'm coming from ........ this is not a post to bash the creatives, or to discuss why Shilpa is leaving .......... but i guess rather, a more general reaction to the idea of actors being replacable ............. you may not have liked Shilpa as i and others did .................. but imagine for one instant that one of your favourite characters from this show leaves and is merely replaced by a new face ..................... no matter how good the new actor is, would it be the same? - i don't think it would be - or at least it wouldn't be for me if any of the characters was just replaced .................. i understand and agree that the show must go on but there must be other ways of carrying the story forward and i guess i would like to know if anyone agrees with me .......... at the same time i know that it isn't always possible for an actor to continue with a role but i really wish that in cases like this at least where there is apparently an amicable resolution and it is planned, that the actor should not be replaced, but rather the story should be taken forward differently
so i think i've said everything i wanted to say - i apologize for the disorganization of my thoughts but i am writing this in one go, straight from the heart ...................

i apologize to the wonderful moderators of this forum for creating this topic as i'm sure that there are a hundred other topics on Shilpa leaving being created and closed as i type this incredibly long post but i honestly did not feel that this post would be suitable in either the AR Heaven or the Oasis or as a response to one of the many other posts due partly to its length and partly to the different sentiment it carries ................ but if you must close this ................. please do and accept my apology once again
