I hated Javed Jaffrey and his cringe 'EXACTLY'.. that made the movie unbearable for me. And Arshad Warsi and his white girlfriend who were also cringe.
I loved the songs though and Saif / Preity clearly have tons of chemistry. But I don't know why I couldn't root for their characters. I see nothing progressive about the movie either. Unwed pregnancy isn't anything new, and him choosing to support her or not is no difference. I'd say Preity's earlier movie on the same subject Kya Kehna was more progressive because she chose to be self-sufficient and dumped Saif who didn't give two shits about her. I haven't rewatched the movie in over a decade so maybe I'd see it in a different light now than I did last time.
Also if I have to rate romcoms that came out around a similar time, I prefer Hum Tum over Salaam Namaste any day.
