Her family also has some degree of unintentional involvement in her elopement. If only MB was an understanding mother and her relationship with her brother was something like Neelo and Saad, things would have been different.

But parents always love their children selflessly so they will accept all their mistakes and forgive them (not talking abt the show, just saying in general).

She can not be blamed completely, she is definitely a victim but she can not be defended also. Not that she wasn’t a fault.

Mariyam was at fault for eloping but the stupid logic of society of questioning a girls character (just like MB did, jaise gayi thi waise ayi ho) that is where victim blaming comes into picture. The stand part might be on the lines of how the society questions the girls character when anything like this happens..not the elopement thing

I think MB meant “I hope you haven’t done the deed.”. To me it looked more like a statement than a question on her character.

I don’t think our society will be ever okay with doing the deed before marriage.
