shimo -- my second post on fiction being fiction.
I used to be a voracious reader for many years where I would gobble up several books in a week. romance and crime were the two genres I enjoyed.
here is how I approach fiction in drama -- yes, there is creative license and certain amount of reality you have to ignore. however, when you create a fictional world, there are certain literature rules that do apply in order for you to create a good work.
I recently watched the movie "dungeons and dragons" and we went because of my niece. I liked the movie for what it was and thought it was well-written. 😆 the conflict was believable (a father trying to connect with his daughter, a husband dealing with loss) and it continued through to the end of the movie. the resolution made sense and you walked away with the feel that it was money and time well spent. so even in a fantasy movie, there is a certain amount of internal logic and reason a work should follow. then only it is enjoyable. so when I crib that it isn't logical, I mean within the sense of the world they have created.
years ago, I remember the Mills & Boon website (later bought out by Harlequin) have a set of rules for wannabe romance authors. it was really interesting to see them place so much importance on conflict building and conflict resolution -- essential to having a good romance book and character development.
so I have mentioned this before that the initial 30-50 episodes of the drama were really well-written. then it veered off sharply. we are not having conflicts resolved in a believable manner. instead, they are resolved within one episode which does not make sense in any world. there are no highs and lows when it comes to such resolution. you feel nothing. also abrupt changes in character development means you lose the connect with the characters and interest in drama.
then when it comes to certain aspects -- like children and law -- I do think that any pieces of fiction should have sense of responsibility and deal with such issues sensitively. also you shouldn't feel like the ML and FL are irresponsibile people. 😆
while I laugh about EK shows, there are many which were well-written. yes, the plots were utterly dumb but it made sense within the world they created. none of the characters grow any brains and theirs fights and struggles feel believable in the world they created. 🤣
so basically when you hear many of us cribbing, we are essentially looking for consistency in writing.
Thank you dear for detailed reply ❤️
I understand your POV and how much it's different from mine
Maybe because i never pay any attention to such depths you are talking about (like clothing and matching of it to their work it's intersting new aspect to me BTW 👏, my work field is medical may be for that 🤣😎)
But the more funny thing is that I liked katha styling in the show and the way they are dressing the employess is Similar to my society so i feel very comfortable with it (that's why i have different POV or clearly to say i didn't pay attention to their clothing because it's familiar to me)
And also i believe that you do market something to attract customers you don't reflect in your personal life ( I mean katha clothings for example)
For the second point yeah i got your points concerning you are all talking about consistency of writing (which i'm enjoying while you are not)
I want here to clear somthing:
Some issues were abrubtly solved like for example (meera yuvraj story) and i totally agree on that but i have some concept ( which may alot of you won't agree with) that my only focus in any show with impossible romance if we could describe this show with, is about the main couple and their story
That's why i could overlook any other lines which would never spoil my entertainment for their story ( i know many would say that side charcaters helping the story of the main lead and so on but i still don't concentrate on it)
(moreover in the arabic version of this story, they got more focus and attention to this line of meera yuvraj and alot of people including me dropped the show because they got long screen space compared to the leads 🤣🤣 that's why i'm happy here 🤣🤣)
Even ehsan redemption despite being done in short time, i found it believable or let me saying justifiable after shamita track where ehsan experienced the time when he was about to lose his best friend and how he perferred that than being with katha (where they obviously weren't near any relationship anyway)
I don' want to talk again about araav and viaan but i want to add small additional line (not a justification to anything) that araav now is behaving like a child. I mean he doesn't know about the love story or the depth of suitability between couple he only knows that robin is good person supporting him and good looking 😂 and he wants to help him to manage his problem like robin did to him earlier (mutual support i mean) even after katha talked about the single mother and her justifiable rejection as compared to their situation he remained at the same subject ( i mean kids remain cunning on the something they wanted regardless how many you could try to forbidden them from it)
About viaan, it's always about me being a big fan of the turkish and arabic versions where there was NO redemption of the male lead character at all
Moreover how they portrayed viaan character is the most intriguing part that got me attached and addicted to this show as compared to other versions
That's why after this well written redmeption and how much guilty he was feeling after the relevation of the truth is what making me accept that change of his character and making it very believable to me and i could say if he wasn't changed in such way i couldn't be that attached to the show 🤣🙈
You know it's my first ITV show to watch and to be honest i would never thought that i would watch any itv show in my life
I watched the turkish version for uncountable times
And i was just watching the arabic version when one of my mutuals at twitter app recommended me the indian version and i was saying i won't watch it
It must have slow motions and illogical scenes and i couldn't feel the same with the turkish and arabic versions amd how they could handle such sensitive subject having so much angst and feelings!!
Then someday my twitter recommend some posts about this show in my timeline and i was like attracted to the couple chemistry then immediately binge watching the whole episodes till the last aired one and searched for the forum 🤣
Then becoming the fan of your thread along with the hashtag on twitter on each aired episode till now
My love to KaViaan couple i couldn't describe that even i have stopped all my current watching shows for only them as they consumed much time of my day either watching or thinking about them.
Eventually me being a fan of this story long time ago and finding something different in this version making me big fan who can do nothing other than enjoying them and attaching to them much more with passing time
BTW i agree with you about the team work subject at the interview of vanya, it's critical subject in interviews and i never expect the answer of vanya at this point and how viaan could accept her after this
I could say her excitement to have the job along with her being favourite candidate of katha 🤣🤣
But i hope for some problems to be happening based on that and giving some drama to the office scenes (in good way to develop story of katha and viaan my only interest 🤣🙈😎)
And as i said earlier the vanya subject would bring viaan trauma to surface again and give us the processing of traumatic people like viaan and katha together and how they would be brought together through that.
