Upon reading the original content from maira omair rana who is omair Rana's wife, who is a great actor himself, I quite agree with her (mostly). My quote above is literally what she said.

Twitter paraphrased and grotesquely twisted her words. I encourage people to go to diva mag or her ig handle directly.

I initially thought this was from the usual comment from the review show of Nadia atiqa show. And they always do that. This is actually not that.

When she said audience were stupid, she clearly mentions a director telling her that when she presented him with a logical script. She rather argues that they're not all stupid. She somewhat rightly chides women who unfortunately are the majority watchers of toxic dramas.

Only thing I'd disagree is when there is so less og content, when there is so less good content produced and women in Desi setting experiencing difficult situations, dramas with medium fantasy provides escapism. We're also lucky to have that privilege of being educated and using our critical senses. Many many women do not get that opportunity due to unfortunate life conditions and oppression. I assume we have to be kind and reflect before we call audience "stupid". They never had a chance for anything different.

Any thoughts? This is just a reflection for me and a musing and a rant 😆
