Saurabh Dewangan: The RCB middle order this season looks fragile, will be interesting to see KKR spinners take early wickets and put the RCB middle order to test

"I wanted to mention this for a while - after MI who have 5 titles and CSK who have 4, if I'm not wrong, we are the third team to have qualified the most times to the playoffs - 8 times. Take one game at a time and try to be a balanced side which we are and we would look to execute our plans as we did tonight" - Virat Kohli after RCB's win over MI

This Chu minnow mentality is what makes sure that RCB never wins. So kohli is happy that they have qualified for Playoffs 8 times. But that also means they have failed 8 times too. 🤣 So thankful that this mediocrity cancer is not plaguing the national team.

He went with his gut feeling and used just the five bowlers in that game, overlooking options like Andre Russell and Anukul Roy. He'll have to be at the top of his game today. And so will the batting lineup. KKR have signed Jason Roy to replace Shakib Al Hasan, but Roy won't be available in this game. So it's unlikely there's going to be any changes in the batting order after just one failure. David Wiese coming in for Tim Southee could be an option worth exploring though, with Lockie Ferguson still doubtful.

But that batting order didn't look functional at all

Do Mandeep and Gurbaaz usually play as openers?

I feel like Rana and Venky opening together might've been a better decision, just like they used to do before. And Russell should definitely be higher up the order.

But I also agree that they should have some calmness and not keep shuffling around the positions too much. Last season they changed their openers like every single match. Gave me such a headache

But he thinks the same wrt to national team also. According to him it is enough to qualify for knockouts and after that winning and losing is part of game🥱

Five minutes to the toss, and here is the pitch report. First let's tell you this is not the centre pitch on the square. One boundary is as short as 54m. Will pay to have right-left batting combinations. Danny Morrison, looking at the pitch, says 200 might be the bare minimum.

195 is average😲 toh kitna banega aaj😲

Let's jump straight to team news. RCB have got off to a good start with a win in their first match, but have since received news that Rajat Patidar is ruled out of the season. Josh Hazlewood and Wanindu Hasaranga are yet to join the squad, and Reece Topley injured himself too. David Willey should take Topley's place for this match.

KKR have signed up Jason Roy, but he won't be available for this match. Lockie Ferguson still doesn't look fully fit.
