Murtasim does feel hurt that Meerab did not stand up for him but he IS also doubting her or at least did for a few moments.
He told her âuske ghar mein uski mohabbat aur mere ghar mein meri biwi.â He essentially told her you are his lover while you are also my wife.
The âkirdar banaoâ dialogue is being white-washed. It was phrased that way by the writer or director just to reduce the blow and white-wash Murtasim but he did question her character. Meerab gets it and therefore, directly defended her kirdar. What does âkirdar banaoâ even mean. Never heard it used that way.
Meerab only screwed up by not defending Murtasim. Going to a friendâs house is not problematic. If a good or close male friend of mine suddenly expressed interest, it would be unnatural to just cut him off just because Iâm married. Remember that Rohail was such a good friend that he even felt the right to arrange a birthday party for her. Her going with him was not inexcusable even if he blocked her car on the road. She hasnât seen psycho Rohail yet. Murtasim is, in fact, more psycho than Rohail what with his anger issues. I found it weird that he went looking for Meerab to Sabaâs house just because she didnât answer calls or was gone for a few hours. This is stifling.
Furthermore, Murtasimâs randomly placed threats are such a turn off. He suddenly gets serious and threatens her with andar ka janwar, qayamat kar dunga, and yesterday his âdonât do anything that should make you fear meâ threat.
I really donât get the above. Does he do this to scare her for the fun of it? Does he really mean it? Was the writer just adding a bit of oomph to his dialogues so it tickles our angry, young, hot man fantasy??
Ultimately, the writer gave us a great vision and allowed for the creation of such powerful chemistry (so huge credit to her because the mass hysteria and obsession this show had created) but she really fell short in creating better, consistent characters and meaningful situations.
Iâm happy watching Murtasim on screen. I couldnât live with a Murtasim.
if I were Meerab, I too would delay initiating a relationship. Whatâs in store for MMs daughters? No professional degrees, early marriages and not being allowed to go out?
Murtasim has to trust Meerab, let her have her space and discard his archaic values, encourage her studies before city-girl Meerab can trust him enough to move further with him. In reality Meerabâs decision to move on with him will affect her life and that of any humans that she brings into the world. When we choose life partners we are also frequently choosing the parents of our progeny. I really feel her more than I feel Murtasim.
A very good take!

Meerab did not consent to be touched by sticky notes, she asked him multiple times to let go, brushed off his touches and forcefully freed herself as she left with her husband. 2 milestones achieved: Meerab called Murtasim 'shohar' twice in this episode and she give him haq over her hurrrraaayyyyyy huzzzzzaaaaaaahhhh. NaMard topic was addressed, it was shot down by Meerab it is over guys.
Meerab says she can't leave Murtasim without a legitimate reason, ahhhhhhh this is her pride talking. For Meerab who is a social justice warrior to accept she is happy in this marriage is shameful, what does that mean is she a victim of Stockholm syndrome or worst injustice wins. To her friends who admire the old Meerab she is a beacon of virtue who fights against wrongdoings, how can she admit to them she conceded defeat. Will they not judge her for being a hypocrite and think she is just like every other foolish girl who just wants to marry a rich guy and forget their values in exchange for a comfortable life. So she hides her sincerity behind another bigger truth that she has nowhere else to go if she left him. If she remains a victim then she is fighting the system, if she gives in she is part of the system. But here is the kicker has she given into the system or given into Murtasim, ofcourse it is Murtasim only she has accepted but unfortunately for her the system and the man are one and the same.
Sasta Salman rattled Meerab's cage twice, when he talks about her lost freedom and when he talks about Murtasim's love for her not being earnest. Her freedom she is subconsciously surrendering as she falls in love with her husband, but his love of her being fake is her biggest fear. Through his perception of her and with his love she is rebuilding her identity, but what if this foundation isn't genuine she will just fall apart all over again. So why do you think Meerab still has trouble believing that Murtasim loves her fervently? I will address this in detail in part 3 of the Review.
Murtasim at the door ding dong. Where does his eyes go first, is the biwi safe yes she is, then he barges inside. His expressions are full on disbelief, then hurt, then indignation as he hears sticky notes bakwaas and when Murtasim heard the word Mohabath he snaps. Her silence is why he is truly enraged and it will be addressed in detail in part 3 of the Review. Meerab doesn't have to physically restrain him, progress from the Bday incident, now her words alone are powerful enough to halt him. Meerab lets Murtasim get in a few punches before asking him to stop savvy girl. Murtasim is the punisher to Meerab's justice and Sasta Salman deserved a mash up for touching her without her consent, holding her against her will and for insulting her husband.
If 'Meerab sirf meri hai' is a question then the answer is 'Qayamat tak meri biwi hi rahegi'. Before he made the former statement Meerub had the upper hand in this relationship she called the shots, engagement, wedding, contract, bed arrangements, even what he ate, she had authority over him. Before that statement he even allowed her to leave him, but after that statement for Murtasim it became 'Kabhin Nahin'. To marry Murtasim or not was in Meerab's control, but she does not have the power to leave him. This point will prove very interesting when the separation track comes, who leaves whom.
Meerab said twice in this episode she is not scared of Murtasim and she meant it. She wouldn't be his true equal if she dreaded him. His own words yes he is capable of murder so Meerab is afraid for him, just like he is her shield she is his. When MK says fear me dear wife he is just blowing hot air, he knows she knows we knows he can never hurt her (MIND BLOCK SLAP). Sasta Salman grabs Meerab arm, MK looks down he is having Bday flashbacks, third time is a death sentence and this time he will settle this score. Murtasim pulls out his loaded gun, this time words alone are not enough and biwi calms him down with her touch. If you still believe she is intimidated by him, then wait till they are outside the house, her nakhras are back and he can't do shit lolzzzz. Meerab walks ahead of him, wife sits coolly in the passenger seat, and KMK is demoted to Meerab's Murtasim. What was that car ride like????
When they are in husband wife mode, he never drags her by force because he doesn't have to. He likes it when she is ahead of him so he can have his eyes on her and be her protector in chief, when she is behind him it makes him nervous. If she lagging, he takes a look back like at the fake pregnancy family dinner. When they were leaving for Karachi he walked ahead of her and she didn't follow directly. He waits for her to get ahead and knows right away her father said something that disturbed her mood, then he comforts her gently to sit in the car. Just like after the gol gappe date he is always tracking her making sure she is OK. He never lets her stew in a sour mood, he is always there to pick her up.
You know I love when you put them in your words!
Felt like watching the episode again!
Give me the part 3!

@bold she is absolutely powerless in this matter! She can never leave him and now that he has declared their marriage to be eternal, she has no option left!
Him or him!
Part 3 (Begum and KMK Back Home)
Two things always consistent with MM. One they never fight in front of family, or let them interfere in their marriage. The other is that they only let obsessive lovers interfere in their marriage DUFFODSSSSSS. KMK defends his begum in front of fake parents and marches upstairs. Meerab tells her foster pops to buzz off, her husband is her only family and she only owes him answers.
Murtasim beast mode is only for others. Yes he can be frustrated and angry with her, but he will never cross the line again like he did with that slap. He wants to be the man she admires. He didn't want to talk he was raging, perhaps afraid of what he might say, but I am glad Meerab confronted him. He keeps his voice as low as possible, he was seething spoke too fast to even understand and with every word he was losing control fast, but he restrained himself not just for her sake but for her parents. She didn't lie about how she got to sticky notes place, it was coercion and she was tricked by a friend she trusted, that makes her foolish not a liar. Murtasim says he doesn't care how or why she ended up in sasta salman flat, that wasn't the main problem.
Meerab pointedly asked does he feel sharm or darr, she says this authority, and with no guilt because she has done thing wrong. Murtasim is feeling darr, but he cloaks it in sharm. His darr is three folds, first she put herself in harms way again, second another man professed his love for her, and lastly she didn't defend THEM. This is her running after baby goats 100 times worst. She doesn't know that he heard that phone conversation with Saba, what it must have felt like for him to hear a stranger say he is going to keep his biwi hostage, how frightened he must have been for her. Does she realize what he goes through when she is in danger, he told her during the kidnapping track that he dies every second. He didn't blame her for the kidnapping because she was ignorant in her joy, here she was just plain gullible.
The way he said 'make your character' sounded to me like he was chiding her saying 'you are better than this'. Your character isn't just your integrity, yes it is a big part of it, but it is everything else too that defines your personality like reliability, morality, wisdom, courage, intelligence, honesty, compassion. He knows she has all these qualities and more, he didn't mean her character failed her, but she making mistakes because she is naive has run its course. He is also reeling from the fake pregnancy drama, so he is now done with her immaturity.
Murtasim has different expectations from two different versions of Meerab. His 'Meri Meerab' the woman he adores can be bad as she wants to be, he will forgive her anything, he will spoil her, she can demand anything from him, she can be all Meerabish he will tolerate it and he will love her no less. But Khan Murtasim Khan (KMK) ki biwi is not allowed to cross the red line. He implied this in the car when leaving the first panchayat, Meerab can do anything but KMK biwi cannot. KMK izzat and jaan is his biwi Meerab, she is his pride and if she falters then he falls that means both their reputations are ruined. He also said he doesn't care what people think him but he will not her go down in esteem. If she compromised herself, society will blame her and that insults his love and even Meerab herself doesn't have the right to tarnish his love for her. Murtasim the husband is not asking Meerab to change, but KMK demands his biwi grow up and exercise better judgement.
She inspires him to rise to the challenge, and now he demands she does too. Ever since the walima slap he has taken a patient approach with her, trying to encourage her, keep her thinking positively, telling her she is Queen of the castle and she is capable of so much if only she allows him into her heart. But now no more he has returned to pre Walima MK, and he is putting his foot down. It is time for tough love for beloved begum.
Murtasim last two charges against her 'you were talking, Meerab, he was expressing his love for you, he was talking nonsense and you were listening quietly'.
In the privacy of their bedroom they can play I am not your biwi you are not my shohar games, but never in public will he allow such talk. Murtaism believes she didn't defend their marriage, and she just let another man say she is not his wife to his face. NOOOOOOOO this is a capital sin in Murtasim's eyes. Meerab did speak up for her marriage but Murtasim wasn't there to see it. As soon as Murtasim enters the flat from his POV everything is happening in slow motion and for Meerab it is all happening too fast like a car crash. While he thinks she had plenty of time to speak up she didn't.
His wrath that she thought it necessary to listen to another man talk about his love for her is unforgivable. He cannot accept this because for him only his love is worthy to be heard by her, anyone else saying those words diminishes his feelings. He isn't just another man in love he is Khan Murtasim Khan. Meerab is his pride he places her even above himself how can a mere mortal confess to his Queen, no one is worthy of that honour except KMK.
Why doesn't Meerab defend Murtasim's love for her in front of Sasta Salman, because she doesn't fully trust Murtasim, why doesn't she believe him is because he keeps his true self hidden from her. Meerab lost faith in the parents she loved and trusted with all her heart. When the parents that raised you can betray you what is a husband worth. So given her past she has no confidence in a mystery box Murtasim. To believe in love again she needs to see him unmasked and uncloaked, and even then falling in love won't be easy for her because her past betrayals have not healed.
When Meerab caught him out with Haya, her instinct was to flee but she stood her ground, showed him her tears, her vulnerability, her pain and was honest with him. But Murtasim's reaction when cornered is to run and hide. In the fight in the room he didn't let her finish he just took off. He did this before as well post car accident, he yelled gooooooo because he was on the verge of a melt down and didn't want to cry in front of her. Is this a macho thing or is he frightened, yes he is frightened of being vulnerable around her.
Whenever her mood is off he is there to lift her up but can she approach him the same way. Does she not have the right or does he not allow it? She is the fuse that sets him off, twice when she tried both times he shuts her down, and this is a problem. Meerab doesn't see Murtasim like he sees her, because he doesn't allow it and if he wants her love he has to let his guard down. Murtasim for all his flirty advances doesn't love freely he holds back, whereas Meerab looks like she is holding back but when she gives in she will love bravely. He loves her more fiercely but she is the valiant one.
Part 4 (Murtasim grieving)
Murtasim outside going through the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. They are not in any sequence, it is unstable and dangerous like an active volcano ready to burst. He is angry trying to process that another man has said he loves his Meerab. The thought disgusts him and he doesn't know where to channel his wroth as he crushes the cigarettes.
Tears on his eyebrows glistened in the night highlighting his agony as he puffs away. Murtasim's belief that she loves him but just won't accept it is starting to slip away and his insecurities are feeding his depression. He was in denial before that he is content with just having her by his side, but today when another man held her hand he is forced to accept that if he doesn't have her heart, then anyone can steal her away.
He looks at the the gun and grabs it a symbol of violence, his good side is bargaining with his darker side, he slumps back in the chair looking dangerous as the volcano is ready to erupt. He holds the gun close to his face, he looks ominous as his dark side has won. He has decided that he will keep her by his side by hook or by crook, consent be damned as he fires the gun. Darth Murtasim wins Meerab watch out.
Conclusion Murtasim overreacted and Meerab underperformed. Neither are to blame, they were both wrong and right and that is marriage. Meerab is a mystery to us but not to Murtasim. And Murtasim is a mystery to Meerab but not to us. Meerab Murtasim call TBA we can exchange notes.

Oh i love this part.. never thought about it this way but it perfectly makes sense.. she has seen his flirty ways and protective instincts but he never let her see his tears.. He doesnt break down in front of her.. so its hard for her to feel and share that pain with him..
ohhh how i wish we could get emotional scenes with these two!!!
Okay going back to reading..đ its 5:57Am and im reading your analysis.. this is how much i LOVE reading them â¤ď¸
