I think they are bound to have a fallout. In the OG the friend was openly doing stuff but here we see that Ehsan tried to undermine him many times in front of Katha and behind his back. A 'friend' like Ehsan doesn't deserve any consideration but in the current trial period he seems to be standing by Viaan and not listening to his mother.

When it comes to Katha, though, he may grudgingly accept that he 'lost' her to Viaan but when the truth comes out later I expect him to use it against Viaan.

Anyway, this show has a big portion about Viaan learning to find himself and breaking free of the mental baggage he's been carrying for ages. It means that one day he will have to fight against his mother, his friend, society, etc. and potentially have to win over the Garewals as they now consider Katha their daughter. That's part of him becoming his own person and stepping out of the shadow of his mother, his friend, and his father's 'legacy' of pain.

This is such a great point. Honestly. I think the cvs did us dirty by doing ehsan dirty. In the sense, they flip flopped with him. We went through way too many judgements with him.

it started with him being the good guy, an excellent foil to Viaan’s chauvinistic attitude. Then when writers began to make Viaan the good guy, they seem to think the only way to do it was to make Ehsan the creep. And then when Viaan was on the struggle, they shifted ehsan to be a good friend no matter what.

To me, this is the biggest bungled up thing tye writers did. They actually did the age old thing they do with female characters in a show…they use female characters as foils to each other…so in shows we often see the female lead and the vamp on the extremes doing ping pong..this is what they did with Viaan and Ehsan and frankly screwed up both the characters…

I agree with you. It's not common to see one character being shown in poor light to glorify another character. That's what happened in this show too though I am glad the cvs aren't showing Ehsan in poor light in this track. Viaan's characterization confuses me sometimes. He is a guy who always keeps strong opinions about others. He firmly believes Ehsan can't fall in love with Katha and vice versa even though he knows they're quite friendly and cordial with each other. He has realized his love for Katha. Though he doesn't expect Katha to fall for him but he somehow expected her to acknowledge his feelings that's why he wanted Keith to compose a song for him with his poem.

I hope after this incident when Viaan has realized Katha still hasn't forgotten their bitter past completely he gives her some time and talks to Ehsan instead.

+1 on the air quotes around "friend" for Ehsan😆.....don't know why he is being given that much credit for standing by Viaan in this case....hasn't he literally said like 10 times that he needs Viaan to run the company and can't do anything by himself?😆.....More than a character judgement, he needs Viaan for the sake of the company.....lol Ehsan's only purpose in the story is to be a sounding board for characters to learn/think about Viaan. Not sure what he is being given so much credit for like he is the greatest friend ever written😆

He has always been superficial about Katha....just because he puts on an affable demeanor doesn't automatically make him a good person. Viaan is being considered a bad person because he had narrow/judgemental views about women at one point? What about how nicely he treated his mother? That doesn't factor into him being a good person? lol it's only outward behavior that decides good or bad?

I really don't get why Viaan is expected to discuss Katha with Ehsan at this point....the kind of emotional baggage that Viaan shares with Katha is just between the two of them....what is there to explain to Ehsan in that? LOL that guy is busy in his lala land where he thinks Katha being friendly with him makes him entitled to barge his way into her home and try to use her son as a means to woo her

Totally agree with the points you've made here. He even seems scared to take on the company CEO role if Viaan steps down and is trying to convince him that he can't do it alone. Plus, when he said it's all or nothing and he can't do it without Viaan, he himself may be convinced it's because of their bond since childhood and means it when he says so, at least on the surface. In the past we discussed how in many ways Viaan seemed to depend a lot on Ehsan for his outgoing personality and for 'understanding' him since childhood, as his only friend and because he appeared to be a total introvert. However, as we see Viaan grow and slowly open up his mind to new dimensions and possibilities, it seems more and more that it's actually Ehsan who is dependent on him, perhaps not emotionally but for practical reasons, such as the running the company and ironically, also being the foil to his outgoing, friendly image, the one that makes him look good while he stands in the background brooding. All this is changing, and that's what caught Ehsan off guard in the parties and various events - he almost felt like Viaan had stepped into his terrority where he had previously reigned and was now feeling insecure.

The talk that Viaan had with him on Holi about his best intentions towards his friend, his brother, made him relax and lower his guard. I do not think that was an innocent conversation that Viaan started. He was driving home a subliminal message to Ehsan because he had seen his friend try to make him look bad deliberately, especially in front of Katha, and he wanted to disarm him by appearing to be a non-threatening, yet key part of Ehsan's life. I believe a big part of Ehsan's show of undying loyalty in the current track is in large part because of that talk, and because on a subconscious level, for once he really does want to prove that he deserves the friendship of a guy like Viaan who has it all and who has always taken on the burdens of the company.

Wavelength - that's what is going to make the difference in the dynamics of these 3 characters. While both Ehsan and Katha seem to be friendly, approachable people, and Viaan the distant, reserved person, it's pretty clear that Katha and Viaan are actually on the same length on many things. They understand each other's silences and challenges, whereas Ehsan seems oblivious to what is really going on, and seems not to understand even explicit points such as when Katha said she didn't need anyone in her life right now. As time passes, Ehsaan continues to feel that there is something going on between those two that he isn't privy to, almost as if he's outside their inner circle and desperately wants in.

On the surface he might find it difficult to understand what would make those two come closer, even as friends, when they clearly have displayed a disdain for one another from day one. This is why I think when Ehsan finds out about that night, he is going to be 1/ shocked that Viaan would do something like that and that Katha would agree 2/ that these two are getting closer despite that, and 3/ potentially assume that Viaan and saved him during the Shamita investigation even though Viaan might actually have been guilty. They are is really a thin line between grudgingly envying a friend and out and out jealousy/territory wars (never mind that Ehsan hasn't considered what Katha wants). In the OG they showed the ML to be jealous and possessive. So far we've seen Viaan as protective and mildly jealous but once the investigation is over and they get to know each other even better, i.e. Katha will have moved past that night onto a more neutral ground, I expect Viaan to show signs of over protectiveness the moment he senses Katha is slowly allowing him into her life willingly.

Fab points you've made here, especially the ones in bold👏. I totally agree.

Ehsan is essentially a person with low self-esteem and a lot of insecurities - one of those types that need to be liked by everyone around in order to determine their self-worth. Viaan has been a lonely kid since childhood - an introvert dealing with a troubled childhood and abandonment issues. So he has poured himself into work and didn't ever go around seeking validation from people to determine his self-worth. You are very right about Ehsan needing Viaan around to make himself look good....lol there was a similar character in another show I used to watch recently.....a Deviji who was worshipped by the audience because she put on a sweet demeanor and constantly talked herself up while talking down the man she claimed to love😆. Ehsan does something similar in Viaan's case....it's backhanded praise many times wherein he tries to show he is being very supportive even while he's putting down Viaan. He did it just recently in an epi by saying that Viaan acts with his heart and this is a weakness because this means he will get hurt easily. He made it sound like he was being a concerned friend but his need to be dismissive of Viaan still came through clearly.....lol

I'm not saying Ehsan doesn't genuinely care for Viaan as a friend on one level too....he does....but he is very much a grey character because he is just so insecure and petty in many ways. No true friend would get his friend drunk like that at a party and trash him as a drunkard simply to impress a girl....but that is exactly what Ehsan did and somehow folks still want to memoryhole that....lol somehow Viaan having narrow views about women is worse than Ehsan calling someone his best friend and then doing this to him.

Ehsan absolutely is CONFOUNDED by the undercurrents between Katha and Viaan....lol as you said, he feels that sense of losing ground on many levels....a) He can't believe that the Viaan that Katha has shown disdain for from day one still manages to draw her attention without doing any grand "romantic" gestures like he himself is doing....b) Ehsan wants the BFF tag from Viaan and the "pucca dost" tag from Katha but in reality, Katha-Viaan are on the same wavelength as you said....because they are not superficial people....and Ehsan is at a loss about how to navigate that....lol and c) Ehsan will have a meltdown if he finds out that Viaan has already given the best friend tag to his precious Batman aka Aarav instead😆. This is why I say Ehsan's job in the show is just to be a sounding board for reflections and reactions....he asks Viaan pointed questions about Katha and that generates interesting reactions from Viaan about things he may not otherwise be realizing😆

Re: protective Viaan....I guess time will tell how that happens in Katha's case....yes, the resolving of this case will likely bring some shifts in KV's dynamics but I've gotten so used to this perpetually awkward and guilt-ridden Viaan😆....it's rare we get to see him doing something beyond that....haha whatever they do, I would like to hope they continue to keep it subtle rather than making it in your face. The emotions make a bigger impact precisely because makers are keeping it subtle so far.

The point is not whether Ehsan’s feelings are true love or just infactuation. The point is the usually thoughtful sensitive Viaan’s lack of considerateness.

There is a first time for everything and hence there is the small chance Ehsan may have fallen in love - Viaan should consider that. Secondly - Viaan himself has changed so why does he not consider that his friend may have changed too.

This part of Viaan’s behaviour is totally at variance with the rest of his characterisation.
