I agree. And I have usually seen new converts to Islam brag about it the most and bring it up even if they are not asked.

Aashka Goradia had spoken at length about her conversion to Islam and finding peace and stability and how Allah guided and saved her etc. Like who asked her anyway that she went about it in an interview in Gr8 magazine in 2005?

They act all giddy and speak as if they got something unique.

I have seen people leave or adopt faiths all time be it take up Buddhism or Sikhism or Jainism or Christianity etc but no one goes advertising and all giddy or show off the way new converts to Islam do.

Only those believe in Our verses who, when they are reminded by them, fall down in prostration and exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord, and they are "not" arrogant. - Quran

Arrogant are these type of people ....

And of the people is he who buys the amusement of speech to mislead [others] from the way of Allah without knowledge and who takes it in ridicule. Those will have a humiliating punishment.

And when our verses are recited to him, he turns away arrogantly as if he had not heard them, as if there was in his ears deafness. So give him tidings of a painful punishment.

nothing like that. People should be free to practice whatever religion they want. But what if he decides later that he finds peace in some other religion?😛 Would he be allowed to leave Islam?
