Divya's so called fame and BO pull is exaggerated so much online that it is laughable.

I once read a post that Divya gave sleepless nights to Madhuri, Sridevi, Juhi and all actresses of that time. Ha! At the most she gave sleepless nights to new girls like Raveena, Lolo, Juhi etc. Definitely not to Madhuri who was going from strength to strength with Dil, Saajan, Beta and Sridevi had already enjoyed peak of stardom for over a decade in 3 industries and was looking to get married and have kids anyway.

Divya was only compared to Sridevi in terms of looks, especially chubby cheeks and big eyes. She was never considered equal to Sridevi in talent or stardom or so called next Sridevi.

I know right :)

I think most of it is attributed to her tragic untimely demise which created alot of affection and support for her.

No denying that Divya was a very promising upcoming star in the new lot of early 90s actresses but comparing her to Sridevi and thinking she was ahead of Madhuri and Juhi and only behind Sri is just not true.

If we take into account the box office, although Divya did some 11 movies before her death, but ONLY ONE movie out of all those films was a super hit (her debut Deewana).

Even Shola aur shabnam was a semi hit and Balwaan was average,. rest most of them were flops.

I'm thinking if Divya was around and she paired nicely with SRK, where would have kajol have been?

Here what an idea for your next thread.

Divya was rumored to be the original Simran. She was also supposed to do Mohra. Raveena's role in it.

Here is another conspiracy theory. Her real name was Divya Om Prakash Bharti. The film “Om Shanti Om” was inspired by her real life story.

Disagree. Divya was childish and immature for the role. Sridevi nailed it perfectly and made it iconic.

Divya seemed misfit, too young and her voice, dialogue delivery was weak compared to Sridevi with her razor sharp delivery and lines like 'Understand? You better understand!'

I am partly glad Divya did not do it. She would not even look convincing as someone running the top industry or company.

True after watching divya scenes which were shot before her passing away it seems she was total misfit in this role she was too young to do this

God knows in what hurry divya was as in signing movies left right center she had the potential to climb up slow and steady and would have reached at a certain level after some time but cruel fate had other plans one mistake of hers cost her life

As far as movie goes sri did it perfect and it was said movie script was some what altered to suit sri

RIP DIVYA AND SRI

Wow. I think because she died too young and too suddenly and her death did not seem to make sense.

This is why so many conspiracy theories exist till date.

Some also claim she knew something about Sajid's underworld connections which is why she was bumped off.

Some call it suicide, some call it murder, some call it accident.

There are "lead roles" and there are "supporting roles". Laadla was anyways remake of a popular South film, and the roles were clearly well-defined way before the Hindi version was conceived.

So Raveena knew from Day 1 that she was playing the supporting role. This was before Mohra days. She wasn't that big of a star back then.

Amongst the new comers, Divya was miles ahead. She mostly played lead roles even in multi-starers like Vishwatma. Even in Rang (1993), Ayesha Jhulka played the supporting role opposite Divya.

Stardom-wise, Divya was nowhere close to Sridevi or Madhuri btw in the early 90s.

Even after 30 years of her passing she trends on Twitter it's mainly coz of her popularity and tragic end

Divya should not have married so soon. That marriage ruined her. And probably took her life too.

Strange how Sri also died mysteriously.

Coincidentally, both Divya and Sri were reported to drink a lot to the point of passing out.

One theory about Divya was also that she was too drunk and fell off terrace as she passed out.

Sridevi was also said to be too drunk and drowned in bath tub.

Some of her weirdo fans even claim other heroines like Madhuri, Sri, Juhi, Raveena, Ash (who was not even Miss India then), Ayesha etc were scared of Divya and felt threatened by her, which is why they ganged up to get Divya murdered. 🤣

The conspiracy theories never cease to amaze and amuse me.

Hers is the most hotly debated death besides that of Gulshan Kumar and now, SSR.
