QUERSTION FROM THE MEMBERS ABOUT FILM LAADLA : (1994)

Raveena Tandon aur Divya bharti almost aik he status ki heorines thein. Dono ko film KSHATRIYA (1993) may aik hee importance aur screen length kay roles milay thay. Divya Bharti was original choice of Laadla but due to death Sridevi came in.

My question is that, in front of Sridevi the role of Raveena Tandon was very small, and was more of a supporting actress . Toh kya jub Divya bharti thi film may tab kya Raveena ka role different thha? screen length zyada thi aur us role ki importance bhi film may zyada thi ?

Aur agar nahi toh Raveena nay aakhir kaisay aik chhota supporting role accept kar liya apni hee level ki actress Divya kay saamnay ? aur agar nahi toh kya Sridevi kay film may aanay say kya Raveena ka role kaat kar bohut chhota kar deya gaya thha ? Anyone has any answer over my question please ?

Raveena must have thought the role of sanskari, humble, poor girl would be better received by audience compared to rude and overbearing Sheetal.

I think role was probably equal when Divya was doing it but shortened when Sridevi stepped in and Raveena could not argue with a senior like Sridevi or compete for attention.

yes that's what I thought else why she would have accepted such a miniscule role front of an actress who was at the same level of popularity as she was, as I said in khstrya both roles were equal of them but in laadla she was more of a character actress with such short screen time as well

Divya Bharti def had more hype around her at the time. It was around 1994 that Raveena got hailed as the number 2 after Madhuri. Divya Bharti was said to be the next Sridevi. She was considered hot and innocent looking at the same time. Meanwhile, she had a very feminine yet curvy figure. After Deewana, Shola Aur Shabnam she was really said to be a star. Also that song "Tere Peeche Peeche Agayi" was a chart buster.

I thought Divya was more natural in the role of Sheetal but a bit wooden. But it honestly did seem like the exact same script. While Sridevi gave better expressions but was more forced. Divya a teenager at the time. Sridevi in her 30s and a legend in her own right.

Here is the work. Sridevi was better. But I honestly don't think Divya was that far behind.

Her beauty was more natural.

Disagree. Divya was childish and immature for the role. Sridevi nailed it perfectly and made it iconic.

Divya seemed misfit, too young and her voice, dialogue delivery was weak compared to Sridevi with her razor sharp delivery and lines like 'Understand? You better understand!'

I am partly glad Divya did not do it. She would not even look convincing as someone running the top industry or company.

You're prolly the first person to say that Raveena was level with Divya. As far as I can recall, Divya was fairly much on top at the time.

I'm thinking if Divya was around and she paired nicely with SRK, where would have kajol have been?

I dont think Raveena was in the same league as Divya. But yes, from Raveena’s perspective she’d like to be in one.

Sri was flawless. I guess being a relatively fresher, it’d not be as convincing as Sri made it back then. When Sri said ‘Understand? You better understand.’, we all understood. 😆 She was a rage.

well Divya was a little bit more popular that time but was not at all on the level of sridevi and there was not that much of a difference between Divya and Raveena's popularity those days despite hits or no hits.

Especially if we take into account how fully equal their roles were in kshatriya and how miniscule role Raveena got in Laadla front of sridevi

Madhuri was a legit number two after sridevi during those times post saajan beta and khalnayak, Juhi was at number 3 with hhrpk and darr and after that all those young girls Divya, Karishma, Raveena, kajol etc were more or less in the same league.

Divya was more popular compared to Raveena Karishma kajol etc but honestly there was not that much of a difference between their popularity, all these young girls were upcoming stars..

And Divya right after sridevi is a much exagerrated opinion to be honest.. there was a huge difference between Divya and even Madhuri and Juhi's popularity those days let alone Sridevi.

As mentioned before in Kshatriya both the roles of Divya and Raveena were utmost equal in every way, so it seems out of question that Raveena would have the same miniscule role of a character actress in front of Divya in Laadla.
