I can tell you many many incidents where hindu gods and pujaris have been ridiculed.

Even hawas (being an urdu word) is used with pujari (Hawas ka pujari) not maulana or father (despite numerous cases of s*x exploitation in by maulanas in madrasas etc or church priests).

You know the funny thing i read about the movie Nikah (based on triple talaq). Initially it was supposed to be titled as talaq talaq talaq.

But After advice from religious people it was named Nikah cos apparently if the husband mentioned the name of movie (talaq talaq talaq) to his wife it would cause his divorce 😆

As for Laxmi ji locket issue (in Tapsi's case) I personally don't consider that an issue.

Hindus themselves are to blame for such things and using names and references of own religion lightly.

Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand showed pandits as lecherous, casteist and sexist and greedy, driving innocent villagers into superstitions in Ram teri Ganga maili and Guide.

They are Hindus. Hirani wrote and made PK. He is Hindu.

Manmohan Desai once justified his affairs saying he was only living up to his name as Manmohan is a name of Lord Krishna who had 16K wives and many gopis.

Many Hindus themselves call a male surrounded by many females as Gopiyo ka Kanha. And if a person is angry they say ab tandav hoga or say meri teesri aankh khul gayi. How can a random person's temper outburst be compared to Lord Shiva's tandav and opening of Third Eye? And create image of Lord Shiva as just someone who cannot control own anger?

You get only as much respect as you respect yourself. Hindus themselves mock own symbols, rites, deities and use references to deities and characters as jokes or taunts.

When same is repeated by others or shown in films then how can you cry about hurt sentiments and blame others?

I have never seen a Muslim use names of Prophet or other religious figures lightly or casually. I have seen backlash in Sikhs if someone equates self to Gurus or even uses names of martyrs lightly.

Whereas Hindus are quite casual about own faith and even name pets with names of own gods and deities.

(Unfortunately) Whatever you have written is true.

If one doesn't respect oneself then obviously others won't too.

Thankfully many Hindus are awakening to this problem and are being swiftly renamed as hindutvavadis or bigots. I personally don't care how they label me, as long as I'm standing up for myself & my community, without harming others (unnecessarily).

P.s. - when i was a child there were lots of jokes on Hindu Gods amongst Hindus ourselves (and i have been guilty of participating in them too) but i can see that now they have decreased a lot amongst Hindus atleast. We have slowly begun taking pride in our roots.

I hate how stars are bashed for things that are not for theirs to control. Like for PK we should bash Hirani and Abhijat for writing those scenes. Why bash actors?

Or for ads, bash the ad makers. Why bash actor who stars in the ad?

I see politicians and IT cells also go for low hanging fruit and whatever that gets them highest publicity.

I wonder what was hurting Hindu sentiments to wear a Lakshmi locket? She did not design that look or costume. This is as absurd as BJP creating ruckus for Deepika'a orange bikini in Pathaan.

Targeting her needlessly just because she is known to be critic of BJP and attended CAA protests.

Main problem is that BJP wants all to be under their thumb they don't care about anything else deshbhakti is just to fool people to remain in power

I think both are gulity.

Amir had a heavy influence on everything related to PK. Would Amir agree to enacting such jokes on Prophet if written by writer or directed by Hirani ir whoever else? But with Shiva he had no problem.

If the designer gives u something ridiculous or scandalous to wear you always have a choice to refuse. Would Tapsi wear a tshirt with prophet's pic if given by her designer? But with Laxmi ji she had no problem.

I have seen Hindus themselves make cheap jokes on Shivaling and treat it as a phallic symbol or talk shit about relation of Shiva, Parvati, Vishnu, Lakshmi, Brahma, Saraswati or call Ram a bad husband or say no woman should get a husband like Ram (there are some folk songs about fate of Sita and agnipariksha, and how no woman should meet fate of Sita).

I have seen the term Hawas ka pujari used most by Hindus.

Hindus also joke about Kaamsutra and various temples whose wall art and sculptures, carvings show sexual poses.

And Hindus themselves call own rituals a waste of time, money and too tedious and joke even about Rakhi.

Rakhi and term bhaiya are reduced to jokes. That you celebrate Raksha bandhan but not Valentine or 'bane rahe bhaiya, kabhi na bane saiyaan' or using Rakhi as a way to tease boys and boys hating that day and avoiding girls then and even older teachers saying they will get girls to tie Rakhi to boys.

Like why joke even about a festival that celebrates bond of siblings and why shame someone for being seen as a brother or sister?

As long as Hindus do not correct own ways and mock own self, they cannot blame others or films for showing them a particular way.

I have seen women with anger issues being called Kali roop or Chandi roop. Huh? Chandi did not have merely temper issues. The anger and destruction caused by Kali or Chandi have specific cause behind it. Hindus demean own deities and legends if they use such references.

I do not see Sikhs with anger issues compare self to Guru Gobind Singh for eg.

So we need to have no go zones, draw the line somewhere and draw boundaries.

Few years ago, during an election campaign, Sidhu had compared himself to Guru Gobind Singh and his aides also used the title 'Mard Agamra' for him, which was originally a title used to address Guru Gobind Singh in honour for his warrior skills. He was ripped apart for it and had to apologise to Sikhs and Akal Takht for this and warned never to compare self to Gurus or use any word for self, which is used for Gurus.

You do not see Hindus object to own random people comparing self to gods.

How easily people call Lata an embodiment of Saraswati or an avatar of her? Or a politician had compared Indira Gandhi to Durga after 1971 war. Or someone ended up saying Modi is an avatar of Kalki? Why?

We should know where to draw the line.

I am also against Hindus making cartoons and toys or dolls on own gods. How can one reduce Hanuman or Ganpati to toons or plush toys? If you learn to play with something what reverance will you have for it? If you reduce deities to TV or film characters or comics, tattoos, cartoons you will gradually see casual behaviour and lack of respect.

There are reasons why Muslims and Sikhs do not allow toons or serials on Prophet or Gurus nor allow actors to play Prophet or Gurus. Unlike Hindus who have allowed anything and now we have fools who even fall at feet of Arun Govil and Nitish Bharadwaj or Mohit Raina and Saurabh Raj Jain, seeking their blessings or invite them at ceremonies or ask them to speak on gods or debate gods like characters of a novel or write fan fiction re imagining own gods without bothering about respect (for eg, wanting to imagine romantic relation with Draupadi and Krishna).

I know BJP and RSS use such references and controversies but I would not mind if ordinary Hindu showed some spine and self introspection too. You do not need to do what other communities do but you do not need to be so casual about own faith either.
