Sairat used to be separated earlier too couple of times but not this long. I think their first separation was just few days or maximum for a week. Their second separation was for few months when Virat used to live in Shruti's house. This current separation is for more than 7 years and end hone ka naam hi nahi le raha only because the writers don't want to reduce Pakhi's importance in the show. Virat’s character was degraded for Pakhi and is still getting more and more degraded. Seems like the writers don't know anymore how to move forward the story hence introduced Satya. Tomorrow if Pakhi harms Virat’s parents or even kids then also he won't divorce Pakhi. He'll continue licking the ground on which she walks so that she can allow Sai to live in the house lol.
