"Piku" is a heartwarming Indian comedy-drama film that revolves around the relationship between a father and daughter. The movie portrays the daily struggles of Piku, a young architect who is trying to balance her professional life with her personal responsibilities toward her aging father, Bhaskor Banerjee. The film highlights the emotional journey of both characters as they embark on a road trip from Delhi to Kolkata, exploring their complex bond and understanding each other's perspectives.

Deepika Padukone's portrayal of Piku is undoubtedly one of her best performances to date. As a headstrong and independent woman, Piku's character resonated with audiences across the country, and Deepika brought her to life with remarkable conviction. Her natural flair for acting shone through in every scene, as she seamlessly blended humor and emotion to create a character that was both relatable and endearing. Her chemistry with co-star Irrfan Khan was also commendable, adding depth and nuance to their on-screen relationship.

One reason for its success is the relatable characters and their organic interactions. The movie explores themes such as family dynamics, aging, illness, and grief in a heartwarming yet realistic way. Additionally, the performances by Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Irrfan Khan are outstanding and add depth to their characters.

Piku is an adorable film. The film is beautifully shot, with stunning visuals and a charming soundtrack that perfectly captures the mood of each scene. What makes this film truly special, however, is its heartwarming portrayal of family relationships. Piku's relationship with her father, played brilliantly by Amitabh Bachchan, is especially touching, as we see how their love for each other helps them navigate the challenges they face together.

Deepika had the best chemistry with Irfan.

Deepika's best performance to date.

Deepika never looked as good as she did in this film.

A rare film in recent times that is a must watch for the entire family... simple, heartwarming and relatable.

Each and every actor was absolutely natural.

The screenplay, writing, directing, music, acting, styling - it was all top notch.

It's a rare film from the past few years that I have no criticisms about.

from You2's first post:

"Screen writer of this movie deserves so much appreciation"

Absolutely!!! All the 4 movies Juhi Chaturvedi wrote belong to my rewatch-worthy list: October, Piku, Vicky Donor and the last one with Amitji and Auyshmann. One can say that she is Shoojit Sircar's writer (I haven't watched the movies where she 'only' wrote the dialogues - except John's Madras Café)

Piku is also on my favourite movies list exactly because of what has been already written...

Except his first one, I've watched each Hindi film Shoojit directed till date (so 6 of 7)...excellent director/filmmaker (very much influenced by Satyajit Ray...).
