Broken Mirrors and the misfortune spell of 7 years!
Broken mirrors have been synonymous with ill-fortune. Associating broken mirrors with bad luck is superstitious belief common across cultures.
Romans believed that a broken mirror can bring a spell of bad luck for 7years! Taking up from the reflection in the water, image were believed to be a reflection of the soul. Mirrors possessing mystical powers. Hence breaking the mirror was inauspicious.
Now why 7years? Because as per Romans the body and soul, undergoes a renewal process every seven years. Hence, the spell period of ill-fortune is 7years before the body and soul gets renewed.
Again, what is the connect? A couple in complete contrast, came together unwillingly, as they were destined. They build a house on a heap of compromise. It was all a transaction based on promises. But relationships are built on emotions, they follow heart. Unfortunately for them, heart and feelings came into picture much later. By then they had a plethora of issues which they refused to address for the fear of losing what they had just found! Thus, the home they built was way too fragile…..just like a mirror. They tried their best to protect their mirror house by shoving all that threatened their harmony and relationship equilibrium. But then over a period the mirror house began to shake and eventually broke, shattering every ounce of it, along with the inhabitants. The house was never meant to be. It was compromised. The enemies were being harboured and bred inside the house. The house was doomed! The mirror house broke and the spell of ill-fortune was casted for 7 long years.
When a phase ends, rebirth happens, there is always an unrest. Just like they say the lull before the storm, there always a storm before the calmness. It is cyclical. As the 7 year long spell comes to an end, before the renewal process begins, there will be turbulence, uprroting and shaking up everything. Before the storm subsides and leaves them to collect the pieces and rebuild again.
What triggered the thought?
“Ginti aur zindagi shoonya se shuru hoti hai. Maine apni zindagi kai baar shoonya se shuru ki hai………………Main us kamre ko ghar bana lungi. Use rehme layak bana lungi”
Sai’s these words were the highlight today. A glimpse into what lies ahead. The 7 years spell is about to get over, and there is a lot of upheaval that we witnessed and will see before the next phase commences. But this was a start. Sai and V have evolved. V as mature, yet someone who lacked the courage to speak his mind and hated confrontations and believed in stalling things and taking decisions on other’s behalf assuming himself to know what is best for others. Sai the immature, stubborn blunt, strong, truthful and opinioned with a golden heart. Both have undergone change but there is more. And the lessons and corrections are in progress, before they step into their new house. And this is not just with Sai and V. We will see the change happen with the Chavans too. BK’s transformation is a just the beginning. They are after all the extension to their family.
Sai is rebuilding her house again. Right from scratch. Not from the debris of the old one. There will be cracks there. But a new one which is built on a strong foundation. Which will be free of the old shackles of promises and compromises. Devoid of any of the old threats eliminating the termite that was eating into their home completely.
BK’s words being the other highlight. “Tumhe jaana hai to jao.” Once Vinu reunites with his Aai, P can leave sparing this family from her evil spell. No one cares.
Today, Sai, Savi and V were cleaning up the outhouse to make it worth living. But that is on a superficial level. In a deeper sense, they have started to build their home. Sai will build it like she said. She may have meant something else, but they seemed to be the words of a foreteller. While Sai builds her home with Savi soon Vinu will join. V will be walking in and out before finally making his permanent space there. This will happen once they have shed off all their old layers and enter this new home with a renewed soul!
PS – I seriously want that Sai builds that home in outhouse and not return to that old room of hers. That is tainted and their memories in that space have been contaminated with the occupancy of P in it. She will always haunt that space. I wish the home they build now is devoid of any remnants of her existence in their lives.
