I read the book! Thrilling!

Don't know if I can watch this Disney Hotstar release in Germany...

But Anil is one of those actors I like very much!

Please tell me about your impressions about the Night Manager series

and recommend some movies where you found him excellent...

Thanks!

Vedika, me neither...I get only Disney Plus...

As I wrote in the title + first post, I would like to get recommendations for Anil movies to watch.

I like him very much as an actor but he did soooooo many movies...I know some of his really successful movies but maybe there are some not famous but still very good...

Haven't watched Night Manager yet. I'll recommend Parinda (Amazon Prime). It is centered around Anil Kapoor's quest for vengeance and him infiltrating the mob. But it is Jackie Shroff's performance as his tormented elder brother that stands out. Also, Nana Patekar gives a brilliant performance as a not-quite-sane Don.

Chameli Ki Shaadi is hilarious where he plays a village wrestler who connives with his friend Amjad Khan to wed his school-girl gf Amrita Singh. It reminds me a lot of quaint-comic-rural roles which Ayushmann does these days.

And of course, Ram Lakhan and Mr. India for sheer nostalgic value.

Gorgeous! Thanks, Capricorn! Mr. India is worth even a multiple watch. I read once about Parinda because of Jackie (have it on the list already but haven't watched it yet)...and I've noted the other two.

Absolutely. That's why I'm interested in watching him. And as I love movies and stories, I like all genres. Some of those you listed, I already know (watched at my 'initiation time' into Hindi - and SRK - Cinema after having liked him in Trimurti). Three from your list, Capricorn also recommended (so I definitely will watch them), 6 I've already watched and Woh Saath Din is already on my list.

Now I'll note Meri Jung, Saaheb, Pukar and Nayak and take a look at imbd for more information (especially at Pukar and Nayak as they are from his "middle age" time 😊)

Thank you, vcs!

oh thats good, I am sure you will like them

meri jung is a well made subhash ghai movie, think the serious parts of ram lakhan

nayak is a shankar movie who made robot, indian etc, it is remake of huge super hit tamil movie, about a common man who becomes chief minister,

pukar is actually not one of the best movies of raj kumar santoshi, but it has great songs, a famous dance between prabhu deva and madhuri and madhuri in a slight grey role, anil won a national award for this movie

saaheb is a nice emotional warm family movie and it has lovely relationship between rakhee (his sister-in-law) and anil kapoor

Be warned that Ram Lakhan and Meri Jung though absolute gems have copious amounts of melodrama and masala. Rakhee and Nutan are the respective mothers in these films and both are fine actresses capable of very nuanced performances. But here both have gone 100% over-the-top. In fact Ram Lakhan can be viewed as a precursor to Karan Arjun. Anil Kapoor's charisma carries the film.
