exactly; that is what rubbed me wrong about this scene. it is like mothers who spend money on themselves a little are bad mothers whereas people are katha is the only way for a mother to be.

I was once speaking to a really succesful lady exec and she shared something with me -- as women, we need to develop ourselves and be okay spending time and effort on ourselves. otherwise, we will go for a tailspin when things go wrong. she lost her only son when he was in college due to an accident. but she said that because she had a life that was separate from him, she was able to pull herself, accepted his death and moved on. she was determined to live a good life with her husband even if her son was not there and so they spend money on things like travel.

not only this lady but I have heard many aunties tell me -- as women, we cannot forget who we are amidst our responsibilities and yes it is totally okay to spend a little on yourself and take care of yourself by going to the parlour, buying a new outfit.

yes, she will have a tough time because aarav is too much the centre of her world. she will feel enormous guilt about being a woman and wanting things that goes beyond being a mother. she will feel terrible that she still feels like a woman.

But I think something will happen in the party which might trigger some feelings. Otherwise why should they show this celebration in such a detailed way with a theme.
