Paanchvi pass lacks the punch

SRK's much-hyped Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hai simply doesn't work. To be fair to the actor, he tries his best to infuse enthusiasm and energy into the show but somehow, this show has failed to make the desired impact. Even the presence of the five chirpy kids does little. In a recent special episode featuring the Bidaai sisters what became obvious was that the girls had been tutored in advance and despite trying their best to appear spontaneous, they just couldn't manage their act. These small town star-struck girls even pecked SRK simultaneously on each dimple. One could either find this act cute or tacky depending on one's affinity to the actor.

Next came the Virani parivaar from Kyun Ki... represented by Gauri and Hiten Tejwani. This couple was more dignified and certainly appeared more knowledgeable than the previous two.

Why do quiz shows insist on bringing in TV or movie stars who simply do not have the aptitude to participate in such shows? They not only end up displaying the low IQ of these otherwise talented performers but also project a poor picture of them in front of their fans.

Moving onto reality shows, Naya Roop, Nayi Zindagi has really managed to transform people's lives. The concept is unique — people with a prominent birthmark, victims of acid attacks or explosions will get the opportunity to undergo plastic surgery paid for by the channel and feel like brand new personalities, ready to embrace life all over again.

The show is moving, the reactions of these people, who can't get over their new look is really heartening. In the last two episodes the channels even roped in actors John Abraham and Sunny Deol, to meet their fans and the reactions were predictable but cute.

Moving on to Bollywood interviews, overgrown kid, Cyrus Broacha interviewed the Big B in a Bhootnath special episode. All credit must go to Mr Bahchchan for handling Cyrus and his dumb questions with aplomb. Seriously, Cyrus's bachcha act is simply not funny and getting to be as repetitive as a bad PJ. Will someone please tell this guy and channels to give us a break!
