He is exactly the kind of hero we see in mainstream pak dramas nowadays. The toxic macho angry young man hero. He was shown barging into the enemies territory because they threatened to kidnap a poor guy's daughter and then they showed him slapping his future wife without any proper reason. Not that having a reason will excuse his actions.
Just because a guy has anger issues and lack of self control doesn't mean him slapping a woman can be swept under the rug. Would he slap his own mother because of his anger management issues? If he is fully capable of controlling his hands in front of his mother then he is fully capable of controlling his hands in front of any woman. His mother has been forcing an unwanted marriage on him but the dude isn't even raising his voice on her.
You are suggesting what should happen but some of these dramas with toxic heros tell stories that actually happen.
Your mother comparison may make sense to some degree but it's far from reality. In the vast majority of anger issue cases, the guy will get physical with the girl /anyone except with his parents, especially the mother. There may be exceptions here and there, but they are the exceptions - not the norm.
So far i haven't come across anyone implying that slapping a girl should be swept under the rug. The majority of the people will condemn the act but still watch the drama because redemption stories are well liked by the public. Additionally, the ability to forgive is a trait that resonates with the audience because forgiveness is a major part of Islam and most religions. This is why such dramas are so popular, and also why may people did not like the endings of Ishqiya, KTK, etc.
I will say there is a saturation of such stories. Consequently, they lose meaning and are not as impactful. And yet, they are as popular as ever. The audience has to communicate with the channels by not watching this kind of content, and it has to start with people who feel strongly about it like in this forum.
