It’s not validation , it s making our presence felt globally and ensuring that our technicians and their work get the exposure they deserve …who knows they might be hired by a Hollywood production…that will just expand their horizons…so why not?
Particularly if technicians and artists have created something that is being appreciated …..I don’t mean to deman models or their work but how are we more “proud” of actors representing a makeup brand at film festivals , as opposed to making a film where their work got noticed ?
The same nonsense was spouted when ARR won Oscar for Jai Ho. How it's inferior and Rahman had composed much better songs before, how indians crave for Hollywood's approval yada yada. People forget it's not so much an approval but an opportunity for Indian cinema to scale greater avenues. Globally being recognized for someone's work, which considering Rajamouli takes great care in looking after each aspect of his movie right from costumes to cinematography is sweat and tears of years of hardwork. He had been brewing on Bahubali as a movie since long when Varsham starring Prabhas came out. Prabhas shared in an audio function how Rajamouli met him and he said he has a big project in mind after they complete shooting for Chatrapati.
Someone with such dedication to their craft deserves to win. He might have pushed for Bahubali but he didn't have the capital or recognition for that. Bahubali cemented his success and gave him the much needed push to present RRR globally. Why does it matter which project of his gets chosen?
This award and recognition would only prove positive to all those who are crying over it today. It would make collaborating easier, our actors/technicians finding work in Hollywood easier and bigger revenue and scope for Indian cinema since many people might start watching the new releases. Aishwarya going on Oprah is something to be celebrated over, but somehow this is not? 😆
It felt so surreal Natu Natu, a telugu song playing on GG, a language I speak, read and write. Never would've thought this would be possible. How do people not get how monumental this is I have no idea.
