hotchoco, it's not INDIA which is intolerant...there is a increasing number of people living in India who showcase intolerance.

Some of them have been payed, some have an intolerant thinking, some want to be in the media...but NONE of them would agree to be called out showing intolerant behaviour.

Not really. When it's state supported, it makes everyone responsible. There is a reason why these kinds of thugs and criminals do not get arrested in India. There's a reason why people giving death threats are treated like celebrities all over the media and still do not face arrest.

Where are the people who were saying srk and the film makers would be happy about this controversy…

Firstly there are actually people who are blaming srk and deepika for saffron bikini and not only boycotting the movie but also want other to not watch it

Now Even the People who wanted to would be thinking if it’s even safe to take the risk to go watch this movie…

hotchoco, I don't like to blame a whole country for what a government and powerful people with interest do to get a hold about a nation.

I know too well the history of my own country being controlled by a fascist and criminal regime...and I know that despite the majority may have followed its inhumane policies, there were many, many who did not believe in the propaganda and even under a government that ruled with methods of terror they kept their humanity and helped the best possible those who got persecuted (without leaving the country).

The country India is still far away to crack under pressure...

JustWandering, I remember what happened at the time of MNIK's release in a ShivSena ruled Maharashtra (and also in other parts of India - if I'm not mistaken)...there had been massive threats against theatre owners, too. At this time, SRK, KJo and Kajol were in Berlin where MNIK was sheduled to open the Filmfestival. After a public press conference, individual interviews were shedulded with important media representants. However, it was only Kajol who was available as SRK and KJo tried their best behind closed doors doing calls and trying their utmost best to garanty a secured release.

Gauri and Suhana - without SRK's knowledge - openly visited a theatre to watch the movie to support SRK. Movie theatres that premiered the movie despite the threats had a heavy police attendance and the situation rather quickly got eased.

Ok, it was 12 years ago...but I keep my hopes that nothing grave will happen in the end.
