My 9 yr old made me tea this morning. And she has done it a few times by now voluntarily. She feels so proud when she can do something on her own.
I give utmost importance to being self reliant and independent and little by little I let my girls do things on their own. It does not mean I do not ever make them hot chocolate, but for sure if I am working and can't fix them breakfast they will not die of hunger like Anupama's 21+yr old kids.
