Before you read the story:
This SS was inspired by the picnic accident wala track, after Sai saves Patralekha. I'm posting this SS as a wish fulfilment, where Sai can actually have her own journey, move on from the toxicity of the Chavan family, find success, and find love, truly, with lots of focus on the mother & daughter bond between Sai-Savi.
This is me giving Sai the character arc and the story she deserves.
The story will start after the Sai saves Patralekha and resigns from her job at the Police Department. And all of Sai's traumas will be addressed in this story - harassed and kidnapped by Jagtap, KJ's death, being married into a criminal family, her husband's betrayal, losing her child... everything will be addressed. This will also focus on Sai healing herself and giving Savi the life she deserves.
THIS IS NOT A SAI---RAT STORY
So, if you are expecting SaiRat endgame, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed.
.Chapter 1.
"Dr. Sai, you're okay. You're safe. Kuch nahi hua hai. Just stay awake. I'm driving you to the hospital." Those were the only words Sai heard before she blacked out.
...
"Aai? Aai? Aankhein kholo na aai!" Savi's frantic voice seemed to come out of nowhere. Where was she? Why was her daughter's voice sounding so distant, as if she were screaming from miles away, when she could feel her standing right next to her? And why was everything so dark around her?
"Dr. Sai, can you hear us?" She heard another low, not-so-familiar, masculine voice addressing her, and she could only nod.
"Sai... dheere se aankhein kholo... you're doing great." She heard Pulkit's voice as someone held her hand gently.
Wait... Pulkit Jiju is here?
Ever so slowly, after what felt like an eternity, Sai felt her eyes slowly opening, adjusting to the view in front of her. She seemed to be in a hospital, surrounded by Savi, Usha Maushi, Pulkit Jiju... and a random stranger. The stranger definitely did not look familiar. But he looked at her with a concern that equalled Usha Maushi and Pulkit Jiju.
"Aai ne aankhein khol diya! Usha Aaji, dekho! Aai ne aankhein khol diya!" yelled Savi, as she launched herself at Sai to give her a hug.
"Savi... Baada... main theek hoon. Aapki Aai bilkul theek hai..." said Sai, engulfing Savi in a bear hug.
"Yeh toh Bappa ki krupa hai, meri bacchi theek hai." Usha Maushi kissed Sai on the forehead, as she shed tears of happiness.
"Sai... I'm so relieved ki tum theek ho!" said Pulkit, as he pulled Sai into a hug too.
Sai's eyes caught the stranger's for a fleeting moment, and he nodded at her with a relieved smile before he walked out, knowing that she was in safe hands.
"Sai... before we discharge you, tum mujhe pehle batao, what is the last thing you remember before you passed out?" asked Pulkit, going back to his Doctor Mode.
"Mujhe... mujhe yaad hai ki Virat and I got Patralekha out of the lake. Phir maine Patralekha ka surgery kiya and it was successful. Phir pata nahi kya hua... thoda chakkar aane laga... bhas itna hi yaad hai." said Sai, straining to see if she had missed something.
"Sai... don't strain. Aisa hi hua tha. Patralekha ki Surgery ke baad tum behosh ho gayi. Tum shayad bhool gayi Sai, that the accident had taken a toll on you too. Even you were injured. But you didn't care about that. You just cared about saving Patralekha's life. If you had put yourself first, tum shayad theek hoti." said Pulkit severly, reprimanding her for not taking care of herself.
"Lekin Jiju, Patralekha meri wajah se uss situation mein thi..." Guilt weighed her down, as she thought about Patralekha's disappointment at Virat saving her first.
"Sai... jo bhi hua, uske zimmedaar tum nahi ho. You are not responsible for Virat's actions or Patralekha's misunderstandings. Why do you get involved with that family, think about their welfare, and put your life in line, jab woh log tumhare baare mein ek pal ke liye bhi nahi sochte hai? Think about it Sai." said Pulkit, before he walked out of the room, leaving Sai to her thoughts.

"Aai! Dekho! Vinu Dada bhi aapse milna chahte hai!" Savi came prancing into the room with Vinayak behind her.
"Doctor Aunty, thank god aap theek ho! Aapne meri Aai ki jaan bachayi, lekin khud ka khayal nahi rakh paaye. Doctor Aunty, ab aapko apna dhyan bhi rakhna hoga." said Vinayak, as he hugged Sai.
"Haan haan Vinayak bete. Main pakka apna khayal rakhungi." said Sai, tearing up at the love and care Vinayak had for her.
"Aai... aapko meri dost Sneha yaad hai? Jab yeh bus se gir rahi thi, aapne isko bachaya!" said Savi, as she pulled another girl into the room.
"Arre haan. Aapka naam Sneha hai? Ab aap kaise ho Baada? Theek ho?" asked Sai, as she lovingly caressed the girl's face.
"Haan Aunty. Main toh bilkul theek hoon! In fact, chachu wanted to thank you for saving my life. Aap se milne hi aa rahe the hum, jab aap hume road pe behosh mili." said Sneha, matter-of-factly.
"Haan Sai... Unhone tumhe admit karke, treatment ka fees bhi bhar diya. Aur tum 3 ghante se behosh thi Sai. Woh toh poore 3 ghante yahin pe the. Bol rahe the ki tumne unki bachchi ki jaan bachayi hai, itna toh woh kar hi sakte hai." said Usha Maushi, mentally thanking him for his kindness.
That was when it hit Sai. The low, gentle and reassuring voice she heard when she was unconscious, it belonged to Sneha's uncle. The stranger who was in the room along with Pulkit, Savi and Maushi was Sneha's uncle. She remembered the way he was staring at her when she woke up, concern etched on his face, and the relief in his expression when she said that she was okay...
"Sneha Baada... tumhare chacha ka naam kya hai?" asked Sai, grateful for whatever this kind stranger had done for her.
"Shantanu Malhotra!" said Sneha, before she took Savi and Vinayak's hand and left the hospital ward to play with them.
"Shantanu Malhotra... Maushi, main kal iss Shantanu Malhotra ko milkar thank you bolungi. Aur unhone jo treatment ka fees bhara hai, woh bhi wapas kardungi. Mujhe kisi ka ehsaan nahi chahiye." said Sai, her tone resolute.
She was very grateful to Mr. Shantanu Malhotra for saving her life. But she couldn't let someone else pay for her treatment. "Main kal Mr. Malhotra ko unke paise wapas dekar, yeh chapter wahin khatam kardungi," thought Sai, as she laid down to rest.
Little did she know that Shantanu Malhotra was not just a chapter, but an entire book waiting to be written into her life...

Parth Samthaan as Shantanu Malhotra
The youngest Malhotra sibling with a secretive past only his brothers are aware of. He is 28 years old and is very fond of his niece, Sneha. Future love interest of Sai Joshi. More about him will be revealed as the story progresses.
Shaheer Sheikh as Gautham Malhotra
The 2nd Malhotra sibling, and the most sorted one among the three. He is engaged to Sonia Singhania, his childhood sweetheart. Will become one of Sai's closest friends in the upcoming chapters. More about him will be revealed as the story progresses.
Harshad Chopda as Dr. Ankit Malhotra
The oldest Malhotra sibling, and the most chaotic one. He is a prankster by nature, but is fiercely protective of those he cares about. He is married to Ahaana Malhotra and they have a daughter named Sneha. Will develop a brotherly bond with Sai, much like Samrat. More about him will be revealed as the story progresses.
Erica Fernandez as Sonia Singhania
Gautham Malhotra's girlfriend and Ahaana's best friend. Will become Sai's BFF and fashion advisor in the future. More about her will be revealed as the story progresses.
Jennifer Winget as Ahaana Kapoor Malhotra
Ankit's wife and Sonia's best friend. Will take on the big sister's role in Sai's life. Sneha's mother and Shantanu's go-to person. More about her will be revealed as the story progresses.
Ronit Roy as Shashank Malhotra
Also known as Papa Malhotra. Looks strict on the outside, but extremely loving and protective towards his family. More about him will be revealed as the story progresses.
Shubhaavi Choksey as Chandralekha Malhotra
Also known as Mommy Malhotra. Very doting towards her sons and is willing to do anything to see them happy. More about her will be revealed as the story progresses.
The rest of the GHKKPM cast will remain as they are.
