I loved episode 2. The most realistic way of showing the struggles of a single mother, trying to balance her work and life, to prove herself in the corporate world, yet maintaining all her personal issues to herself.

What I liked the most about Katha is that she is not playing victim card in any situation

I am totally in for this show

See...when it's right, its just right. We don't have to look for reasons or justify. This show strikes all the right chords. I am glad that we finally found something worthwhile to watch. We have been roaming around for a while. We even went in B... land🤣

I like the office setting, the negotiations. I like seeing Katha on her cycle, Viaan's friend teasing him...there are so many things which I like. The setting of the show is great.

Good morning girls !!!!

I thought I would give the forumwaasis an overdose of Mili early AM, as I have a long day today and may not be able to watch the next episode till late evening. Kya pata meri mood kaise bane rahegi

OK, one gripe about episode 2. Without complaints, Mili doesn't exist, those of you know me are aware of this, kitna sardard it can be.

The director obviously didn't want to look into any detail about medical facts. That " blood cancer" is so 1970s. She/he could have googled to find out the most common "blood cancer" in children and given it a name. OK, where am I going with this?

I always get the burnnnn....... when they talk about the God-like surgeon coming from the USA to save people, and they have this window of time and they are expensive and therefore the pressure and helplessness of Katha👎🏼 Come on people, we are the medical tourism capital of the world, Mumbai is no less than NY technology wise. Our doctors are the most brilliant, skilled, kind and compassionate lot ( yeah, yeah, I am aware of some horror stories ), generally speaking. Kya surgical expertise ke baath kar rahein hain? This is sooo 1970's-80s vibe to it. Remember the days, when they would get a clueless Caucasian guy in a white coat doing his 2 Rs acting by looking at x-rays upside down, while our actors are giving their 110 Rs acting? As is, these treatments are expensive, so they could have left it at that. That remained as a sore thumb for me in an otherwise great episode yesterday🤔

Sorry, needed to get this out of my chest, so I can do my work like a shaant atma😃

I liked the pathologically happy friend too😊, the ever anxious Phalguni mausi. Loved the presentation and hero saying " we will find an architectural solution". I would have no clue what that might look like, but I am sure there are engineering solutions for a lot of problems

mili9 -- will comment more after watching but on the point you raised, in original version, the FL needed money to pay the donor. so her son was suffering from leukemia but they were unable to find a donor due to rare blood group and other complications. a neighbouring country, someone was a match (she had tested because her own son had cancer and then recovered). the doctor finds end up finding this donor lady through another colleague who he knew as some professional association or something. so this donor didn't have money to fly to turkey and the doctor said if you want this donor, then you have to pay for her expenses as well as some token amount for her time. donor also needed to be paid for her hospital recovery as she can't immediately fly out. the FL asks her father-in-law but he was against the marriage and so is still mad that his son went and married against his wishes. so he refuses to help.

I would have thought they would have just copied that because that is such a desi type reaction/problem and would have fit in nicely with any ITV serial. 😆 no need to have fly-in doctor unless you are super rich politician. it would have been better if they had come up with something there is a donor available in singapore or some other neighbouring country and so it would require you to fly him out there.

or they could have done a very filmy version --- there is a donor who had tested for her own son but it turns out another family member (maybe the dad) is also a match. however, they don't have enough money for the surgery. so they are willing to donate to your son if you can also pay for their kid's surgery. voila, money problem that makes sense!!!

The medical reason, blood cancer and its expensive treatment looks a bit OTT. India is a perfect medical tourism location and we have talented doctors. They should have shown like a super specialist from another metro city has to come, maybe donor is in need of money and so on.

But I will forgive and forget it as creative liberty, keeping in mind how they are executing overall story as realistic as possible.

Today's precap it seems Katha will go to her dad/in-law for help and he will deny. That person looks rich and can afford to help. We don't know the BG story about them

I wonder how Katha will end up taking help from Viaan. As of now there is no interaction between them, except the presentation she made

Overall I liked the way they are telling the story. And we are able to connect to the story and characters. They could establish that connect with the very first episode

watched ep 2 and have to agree with mili -- the whole NY expert doctor seems a bit vague especially considering India as a medical tourism hub. based on just the sheer number of patients, even junior doctors in India have the kind of experience that cannot be matched elsewhere. it is one reason why those studying medicine outside such as in eastern europe have to come back and take a tough exam to get licensed in India. the lack of experience (in terms of numbers) is cited as a reason by authority for the need for the tough exam.

keeping that aside, I would have felt more comfortable if the doctor had said the NY team was specializing in an experimental surgery and we don't have the experience and know-how. that sort of line would have made more sense. there is also advancement in laser and robotic surgery happening within oncology. many of these machines are already available in India but it does take a certain amount of time before the newer models and techniques are introduced here. so if they had hinted at those kind of realities as the reason for the doctor from NY, it would have been better.

but like letha said, the other aspects of the drama have been done well (another essay post coming! 😆) and so we can just keep this little detail as something the team didn't want to go into too many specifics because they don't want to be rhona dhona.

What differentiates Katha from other shows is that how they portray the FL. It is so realistic. She is a sharp, intelligent architect with fresh ideas and solutions. She does many roles, real estate agent, yoga teacher, she is practical, yet compassionate and caring, does not take favours, and never uses sympathy card or victim card. She is a widow and single mother, but everyone thinks she is single, she keeps her real problems to herself and her close ones. She is a fighter and survivor. And she does not just sit back on her problems, she just goes on finding solutions.

Katha is a struggling mother-professional-woman that we see everyday out in the real world.

I hope the story remains intact, they keep it straight and no un necessary romance and drama. OFC, I know there will be a little bit drama and romance, but I don't like anything OTT

Another thing that needs to mention is how they show two other women, Rewa and Falguni helps Katha in her journey. Its very rare to see women supporting other woman in ITV

I have hopes with the show being aired on Sony

Not at all, my friend. I am from a small town, yeh toh roz-roz ka maamla hain😎 What is surprising is I thought it won't happen in larger cities like Mumbai, probably doesn't on major thoroughfares, but in side gullies, I can totally see it happen.

Koi aake thop dega, aur gaali bhi degaa😒 You need to listen to that nonsense too. Katha deserved gaalis as she was on the phone and was negligent. But, the poor driver of the car, was worried for her.

Filmy tab hoga, if the driver is the hero guy, who would give gaalis and lift Katha in his arms and take her to the side of the road ( which our other heroji will be doing soon in our other show😉😉lo, sardard shuru😃). Here, like any of us, she limped around and had to cover up her injury too for first impressions lest people thought her to be clumsy🤔Just glad the impact didn't shatter her knee cap. Moving on......

I liked how they are establishing both characters and giving us glimpses into their respective backgrounds and mentalities, sukoon se👍🏼

Loved how they showed sexual harassment by a woman on a TV show- gender neutrality👍🏼This needs to be told that the numbers may be small, but not zero when the woman is the perpetrator of subtle harassment🤢

Wow! Aditi is going to chew her character up and spit it out I loved her portrayal of Katha, sensitive, hardworking, responsible, problem solver who doesn't sit and cry about her kismet and the likes👏 She takes help when she needs it, she will find compromises when she can, she is also frank about saying she can't do any charity in the condition she is in, she is sharp, precise and articulate. She is a cheerful and supportive mother trying to give her son whatever normalcy she can afford at the moment, but is also transparent with him, she cries on a shoulder she can lean on, but gets up and going. No self pity whatsoever👍🏼👏, no blame game of kismet. Her focus is clear, and she will work towards it fearlessly.

Lethaji, thanks for pointing out the other women Phalguni and the other friend, helping her👍🏼This is how it is in real life, the heroines are not people who get targeted all the time, so they can gain sympathy from onlookers. Usually, it is the life and its circumstances which are cruel, not every Tom, Dick and Harry who we meet is a cruella on an innocent, bechaari heroine🤔Yipeee......... Anu ji is a fantastic MIL too seems like in the show. Another woman who is a mother actually acts and feels for Katha like one👏

Of course, the brother and his wife are not so nice people, not sure if they have any more role or not. Did I hear her asking for a boy child? The FIL is your usual chauvinist, who takes the highway or my way approach👎🏼despite his son's passing. He is one of those stereotypical stubborn, chauvinist who gloat about " not forgiving despite death". We just need to sympathize for these kind of sorry people who are so embroiled in their ego that they miss out on the big picture🤔 enough said.........

Katha's lines and her acting are amazing portraying her fear and helplessness and her resolve to get her son treated one way or the other......

Viaan seems to be mad at his dead dad because of some betrayal he says which is his last memory of him Now, yeh kya? Is there any secretary-boss story which made him give out blanket statements against all women? He is doing a decent job, no kudos yet to him from me

It is intriguing and very interesting. Great to see you all here❤️

Let us figure out a format, should we do a thread per episode, so it is easier to find which episode we are talking about?

Hello all.Afte many many days back with a sony show as i was curious to sse how they remake a turkish show which has a bold storyline & very nice story with equally good writing. Not seen the show full but whatever i saw in YT, the turkish show is quite well written & acted. After full 4 years watching ashow in sony after Yeh un dino ened.I have hopes from Sony because they dont usually deviate much from the main plot.Sony audience are different from other channels.Till now wathched 2 episodes & frankly it is quite well done.It will be really worth watching in case they keep the storyline intact. They have taken good actors in lead role. The role is complex one & good acting needed to pull it off .
