This sounds like the Arabic pronunciation of the name Rahat to me. That's the only way I can make sense of this name. Lol.

I’m waiting for a celeb to name their kid something generic like “Ramesh” or “suresh” or “Mohan” or “Neha” or “Preethi” or “aditi”
these exotic raha, vayu, nysa, hrehaan are all 😩😩😩
Oh God me too..whatever happened to the Siddharths and Gautams and Viveks and Priyas and Divyas. Bring them back !

I think Siddharth and Priya are two names that willl always stay in vogue. I see old and young people with those names.

Oh good...I don't know a single young person with any of these names !
I am thinking that why would neetu kapoor chose the name( i am guessing she chose it from the caption)
Doesnt parents get to pick the name. Apparently media was not wrong for asking the name of the baby
Very controlling she seems
I do find it weird when people other than the parents of the kid get to name the child. Like grandparents or the eldest in the family. Or when parents are told the name has to start with a particular letter.
The parents have created this child together and mum has carried it for 9 months, but neither of them gets to name their own child?
Member topic: what would you name your kids? (jab bhi honge)
💀
Nope, didn't like it. It's that even a name🙄. It sounds like Shaka, Raka...😣
I knew they would keep the name with R and RanAlia is so much better. 😆 even Rabia would have been.
I prefer Vamila, Vayu and others

I think Maalti and Devi are more generic. Also, this brings me to another point.
There are two major trends that I have observed when it comes to naming babies these days which are at the two extreme ends of each other.
One is offcourse the more ‘global’ sounding names which have been in trend for a few years now and the counter trend which is more recent is going back to the roots, loving the traditional, bringing back what was considered old fashioned or stale. I have come across a lot of couples choosing these typical traditional Indian names for their kids. A phenomenon more popular in Indians living abroad as they want to feel more connected to their roots.
To me, first step should be - May be not naming typical suresh Ramesh Jayesh kind of names but then second step is that name should be simple and easy to pronounce and not create confusion around it :) if both criteria satisfied it’s a good name lol
Aloo ne puchha nahi warna bata deti lol 😆

I am open to unique names and also traditional names but when parents give their kids a very hard to pronounce traditional name in a foreign country it never goes well for that child. They either resort to coming up with a nickname or struggling with it lifelong. Parents feel good about what name they have given their child but the kid has to live with it forever and especially in western countries your name is so important it’s used everywhere.
