Okay y'all. As promised here goes nothing. So this is what happened after the page.
Me: *sends an email in response to a page* Hi Dr. Z, yes I am in my office now. Quick lunch.
****Hits send and waits with bated breath for a response while staring at the wall clock like a certified lunatic****
Then, in exactly 6 minutes, someone knocks on the office door. My heart rate goes from a nice resting 80 bpm to a 145 bpm
Me: *come in, I am in here*
Door openes. But it was not him. This is good, right? It's good....because it was not the HR lady, either. Here I am thinking wallllaaahiii, what if he reported me to HR for confessing my raging crush on him? But he did not!, He did not report me to HR for confessing my raging crush to him? This is great. This is awesome. That is all I am thinking at that point.
Oh by the way, that was just a nurse coming in to give me a heads up about the afternoon discharges. No biggie. At this point, I am feeling a lot calmer so I get back to work.
Then at around 2:30 or so, there's another knock. At this point, I am so immersed in my work, I had totally forgotten about obsessing over the email I had sent, earlier. So I am just like "yeah I am still here, come in."
He steps in and these words that he says next had my whole heart at his feet. AGAIN! At this point, ya girl is dead. I cannot tell if I am still lusting after him or have fallen senti flat upside down head over heels in love. Thrice and back to life again. But I live and I will remember these words to my grave.
"Hi! Sorry to have bothered you with a page over lunch but I did not want to text you since I have not officially asked you for your number."
Me without processing fully what he just said: "oh its no big deal, it was a short page" IT was NOT a short page y'all. It was the longest page I have ever received that said a lot without saying anything!!!!!
Him: "Right, of course. So I am leaving early today since I have a flight to catch. Heading up to Boston"
Me: "Yes, sure. You told me last weekend....Boston....that's where you will be headed to. Well....I hope you have a nice time with your family. I will be here....in good ole' Atlanta. You stay warm, though! Oh and safe flight, also!"
Him: "I will. Thank you for your concern, G"
Me: "Oh of course. We want ya back in here, afterall". At this point, I know I am rambling but I cannot will myself to shut my trap.
Him: "Oh I have many reasons to be back, don't ya worry" **Smiles at me**
I am alive y'all, I am alive!
Me: "Oh you said, you could not text me earlier. Well...here's my number if you would like to text instead of page. I imagine you will not be carrying your pager?" Of course he would not be carrying his damn pager during traveling! I know I was rambling nonsense but I could not help it.
Me: ***Scribbles my number down really quick on a post it and hands it over to him****
He extends his hand out and our fingers brush (me thinks he did this on purpose or I did, I cannot remember). We stare. It's a legit staring contest, ya'll. All I am thinking is oh what would he do if I just jumped on him at this point? I could not tell what he was thinking. But anyway, it felt like a dream.
10 months! Almost 10 months. I have waited 10 months. But he has my number now.
That was Tuesday. He has my number. It is Thursday now.
He texted last night and said, "In Boston, now. See you next week. Happy thanksgiving to you and your family." He even added a smiley after "next week" so the next week now looks like a glorious next week. Ufff......I am floating.
The End! I wish I could tell you he barged into my office, whisked me away and we kissed under the moonlight but none of that happened.Walllaahhi....kaise teri khudgarzi.
He has my number offcially, though and that's good. That is enough. For now. I gotta stick to the facts!
