Switzerland will always top my list. I don’t think any country has that level of beauty. It’s been so long since I’ve been though and would love to go back. Maybe go to Grindelwald this time. Insanely expensive though. Have this distinct memory of going on the Rhine Falls boat ride and seeing a Vada Pav vendor and getting that with karak chai. Next is probably south of Italy. Naples is an absolute 💩 hole but Amalfi, Positano, Capri etc has my heart. Sorry Clooney, Como/Bellagio has nothing on these places.

drove from Santa Monica to Malibu a couple weeks back, part of my wfh location😛😆

Trip to Sikkim back when was 15. Rumtek monastery was awesome. I wish I could've walked across the border to China and back, but it's not allowed.

Trip to Amsterdam in my 20s. Yeah, the usual visit to red light district and museums and boat rides. But the vibe of the city is what got me.

Trekking the French Alps also in my 20s. I visited the shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Lourdes and took a dip in the holy pool. It was... peaceful. I'd like to do it again to experience the feeling. Life isn't very peaceful these days.

I once drove down Highway One in Cali and kept driving until I was 200 miles into Mexico. 😆 When I got out for some food, I ended up in an Indian restaurant of all places. The owner said he and his friend went to Mexico to sneak across the border. His friend made it. He didn't. Then, he married a local woman and stayed. And yeah, returning home was a pain. 4 hours in line at the border to verify identity.😆

i suppose you must have crossed the border into Tijuana? How is it? Wanted to do that when I was in CA a couple weeks ago, but didn't have time. Did the whole US 1 thing- actually have done it maybe 10 times, as well as La Jolla, SF, tahoe, yosemite.

would love to visit sikkim except i think it would have to be really planned out in advance- i believe they require a visa/ permit?

I went to Tijuana separately on foot. Didn't get off the highway during the drive. That scenic highway has really majestic views.

Re: Tijuana. Crowded, noisy, great food, (comparatively) cheap stuff. The person I was with got a 5$ haircut. 😆 It wasn't good.

I was an Indian citizen when I traveled to Sikkim. No visa. I don't know if you need a permit now what with all the issues from China because you're literally at the border. It's pain to plan though. Flight to Calcutta, then by road to Siliguri, and you'll need someone to drive you to Gangtok. Rumtek monastery is yet another trip from Gangtok. Hairpin curves, and I puked all the way there😆 The monastery and the views are worth it though.
