These episodes are always hard to watch due to the emotions. Wish they would have gone with a different theme instead of the mother's special especially with current stars like Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon in attendance.

Kavya disappointed big time. She might be in the bottom 3 this time.

Shivam was the MVP of the show today. He was outstanding and deserves to win this show hands down.

Deboshmita gave a nice performance today. Hoping she is able to move onto the top 12.

Vinit was also decent today. Expected more emotion from him from this song but no problem.

Rishi was alright.

Sonakshi was the surprise package today. She has been bringing it these last few weeks. Her singing touched my heart today. So surprised she didn't get MBD.

Navdeep bored me. He turned an emotional song into a religious bhajan.

Sanchari wasn't good today. I expect her or Rupam to get eliminated tomorrow. Probably Rupam though but we'll see.

12th Nov Maa special - manoj Munthasir, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon.

Kavya :- That was one of the most flat renditions of Dilbaro I have ever heard. That’s the thing about kavya - it’s either a hit or a miss. For me, it was a miss this time. Kavya’s mom packed in so much feel in just those few lines. Beautiful rendition 👌

Shivam :- Chunar - A composition that tugs your heart. Shivam aced it. 👍. The feel, the improvisations everything was pat on. Shivam is going to be the Nihal for me - I used to think it will be Chirag earlier. But since the last couple of episodes Shivam is climbing up the ladder steadily. Wonderful rendition. Cried, clapped, enjoyed. 👌. MBD well-deserved

Debo :- Tu kitni achchi hai. A simple song, rendered well. But I thought they could’ve given her something more challenging. Maybe Dilbaro should’ve gone to her.

Vineet :- Meri Maa. The minute he started, I knew it’s going to be a kill. The entire vineet segment was so emotional without being melodramatic. Cried, clapped, enjoyed. 👍👌.

Rishi :- Surmayi ankhiyon. He brought in the softness needed for the song. He was better compared to the last couple of weeks. Maybe like Faiz, he could be back with a bang.

Sonakshi :- Lukka Chuppi. One of her bests. A tough ARR number delivered so beautifully. 👍👌. Should’ve got MBD.

Navdeep :- Baaghban. As usual, sang in his comfort zone & did well. 👍

Sanchari :- Neerja song - not so popular. Didn’t connect. I thought she went a bit offtune too.

Asides:-

* Vishal, not known to exhibit emotions, had me in tears recounting his own personal loss.

* Varun lipsynching the sargam part of Luka Chuppi - wow! 👍.

* sparklers today :- Shivam, Sona, vineet & kavya’s mom 😊

* An enjoyable episode with overall good performances barring a couple - also an emotional one with Manoj the Wordsmith , but without Neha’s aansoo 😁.

And finally… manoj repeated most of his shayari from the previous Maa episode of SS2 ( or was it Idol 12?)…

Manoj to TCT :- “ itne paise mein itnayich milega”🤪

Us :- no complaints sirji, after umpteen govindas, this is falooda. 🤣

Ya Vishal was so emotional. Also his comment about Ganga and Gangotri. Dil jeet liya usne aaj

Lovely episode - Manoj Muntashir is a magician. But what was icing on the cake was Neha’s absence. Can you imagine her crying in every syllable anyone utters???

Anyway coming to the performances -

Kavya - expect her to ruin any song. She chose or was given such a wonderful song, but it was the worst rendition I’ve ever heard. Like someone has said before it was the flattest version of this song. Her mum on the other hand was way better. Maybe the can exchange her for her mom.

Shivam - Chunariya, this song is enough to bring tears to anyones eyes. He sang it brilliantly. I think the winner this time will be a guy (again)! And he’s clearly a front runner.

Debosmita - she’s so underrated, and I don’t know why? A straightforward song, and she did justice. A lot of times singers try to add something extra to a simple song and ruin it, she did nothing of that sort and that’s the beauty of her singing - simple and no nonsense, still melodius.

Vineet - another song bound to bring tears to one’s eyes. He sang beautifully, but this wasn’t his best performance or the best performance on this song on reality shows. I think I judge him on a different scale from the others and so expect so much more for him. Still his performance was faultless.

Rishi - good performance, not a song I quite like, but he did justice. I’d really like him to sing something more fast, maybe a dance number or something.

Sonakshi - how good was she? If a girl is to win, I think she will be the one. She nailed this song. Like Kriti Sanon said she sounded soft at times (as needed), and then her voice was all powerful. Fantastic performance.

Navdeep - boring! No doubting his singing prowess, but he’s stuck in a rut and it’s not enjoyable listening to the same type of singing every week. Nice song - just not the best version.

Sanchari - she sang well. She’s quite versatile and that’s her USP. I wish she had a different song, because popular songs seem to get more votes.

The stars today ..and always.. are mothers. Vineet's mother is n inspiration..the way she said "aisa na ho ki hamare aane se aap emotional ho Kar gaana achha na gaao"..so strong, so inspiring.

And Kavya's mother has such a wonderful voice!

Gujarati or Hindi? Understand Kavya’s Parents well known in Gujarati music industry??!!!!

Didn’t have time to watch Maa special episode. From the comments, apart from Manoj ji’s tear jerk lyrics/poetry, most of the songs were repeated.

Question - do they have to sing Hindi songs all the time? Why can’t contestants sing in regional language songs? Surely there are lots of maa related songs in Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil etc. It will give contestants a chance to sing in different languages as being a singer should be able to sing in other languages.

After all Lataji, Ashaji, mukeshji, Kishore Kumar, Rafiji etc have sung in different languages

Oh thanks for informing..just looked up. She is Sachin Limaye's daughter. Have heard his bhajans so many times. Even the prelude..the words he speaks before each bhajan r too good.

Didn't get a chance to hear the ghazals..will do

Did they edit Rishi's performance with Rahul Roy on guitar
