Aishwarya Rai still has that magnificent aura on screen. She was magical in PS 1.
Tabu. As much as I like Rani, there is no denying that a bulk of her hits/acclaimed movies are from YRF, and she's getting these offers not only because she's talented but also because of her associations with YRF. Karishma fizzled out by early 2000s. Preity by 2007.
FYI: As another posted mentioned, RM, PZ and Ash are 2000s actress. They literally ruled the early to mid 2000s.
fully agree though I'm rani fan but yeah tabu is fire still nowOriginally posted by: diasingh2
Aish-Rani-Preti are not really "90s actresses".. Nobody calls Juhi an 80s actress, just because she debuted in late 80s.
Aish-Rani-Preeti debuted in late 90s (and did some amazing work in that period) but they rose to prominence in 2000s. They're more like 2000s actresses, although Karisma is definitely 90s.👍🏼
By early 2000s, Karisma actually got tired of acting and left the industry because
1) she had been working since very young age
2) she got married,
3) her younger sis Kareena was far more ambitious and passionate about acting and working in films. So, she passed her mantle to her.
Lolo actually worked A LOT (in terms of quantity) in the 90s. I remember reading somewhere sometime ago Lolo still has more or equal number of films to her credit than Bebo with her 20+ years of career.😲 But Kareena has more quality work than Karisma for sure.
Anyways, the answer to this question is Tabu.
but she is not in the options.
From given choices it is Rani thanks to films like Mardaani, Hichki.
And to some extent Ash with her ads, Cannes and if she does films or gets good roles like PS1.
Others are nowhere.
Tabu, Madhuri, Kajol, Shilpa are doing best as 90s actors. Preity is as good as gone. Lolo does few ads or a web series bas.
Aishwarya, without a doubt 👍
Kajol, Tabu and on TV it's Shilpa Shetty.
Ash, Rani, Preity may have debuted in the late 90’s but they are not “90’s actresses”…. They belong to the 2000-2010 batch

Thank you for setting the record straight. Ironically enough, a few years back someone on social media also called Rani and Preity actresses of the 90s and Preity spoke out and corrected this rudeness. Just because they debuted in the 90s does not make them 90s actresses. Rani, Preity, and Aish were the ruling female stars of the 2000s so if there is any era they are associated with, it is the 2000s.
Yes exactly.
I think 'Zillenials' often confuse Rani, Preeti and Aish as 90s actresses because they grew up watching their films on TV, along with other films of the ruling stars of the 90s (like Karisma, Kajol, Juhi, Urmila, Raveena etc) as their careers overlapped.
During late 90s, these new girls brought some kind of new, modern charm with them I guess that's what separated them from other 90s actresses. 👍🏼
This is what their another contemporary - Mahima Chaudhary lacked. She still acted like 90s actresses and even enjoyed being bracketed with them. (She really thought she would win Best Actress award for Pardes along with the Best Debut award, LMAO
) That's why she faded as soon as the 90s phenomenon faded.
Meanwhile, Aish, Rani, Preeti's popularity grew by leaps & bounds...as they truly were 'new millennia' stars at that time.
I still remember Rani became known as the "Khandala Girl"☺️, while Preeti was the "Dimple Girl".
Aish single-handedly dethroned all 90s actresses in 1999 itself with the incredible success of Taal and HDDCS.⭐️ And then, they really peaked during early-to-mid 2000s.👏 Aish enjoyed popularity even in the back-half of the decade.
Ironically, history repeated itself in late 2000s
when the the audiences moved on from Aish-Rani-Preeti to the younger lot of Priyanka, Katrina, Deepika (& Kareena who interestingly started out as a contemporary of Rani, Preeti).
Thankfully, they were the last batch of actresses with shelf life. Now with OTT, SM and other options, actresses can stay relevant forever. Even mediocre actresses like Sonam and Sonakshi have had 10+ years of careers.
Mahima had a serious Madhuri hangover.
Pardes and Daag are her two most well known hits and in both films one can easily see how much Mahima tried to copy Madhuri - be it hair style, smile, expressions or emotional scenes or dances.
In this sense Rani, Preity, Ash, Bebo were smart enough to act in own way and not copy whatever previous superstars had done.
Ash could have done a lot more and finished all other actresses if that personal life fiasco did not affect her career. She was wildly popular thanks to her looks and graceful dance.
These are a time I liked these two. But sadly Hrithik is a dried up flop actor like Aishwarya Rai. He hasn't been able to have a hit in years!...

She's so cute. She should be given more chances by good production houses i feel. https://youtu.be/Ohy9JCMv8tA?si=rlAkTM68SSpN9iR1
