🏏ICC Men's T20I WC 2022 - NED vs RSA, M-40th, Super 12 Group 2🏏

RSA vs NED Prediction

South Africa and Netherlands will face off in the third-last game of the Super 12 stage of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 in Adelaide today.

South Africa is placed second on the points table, while the Netherlands is ranked last.

In order to qualify for the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022 and finish as the group leaders, South Africa desperately needs a win over the Netherlands.

South Africa won two of their four games, lost one, and had one game abandoned due to rain.

They were defeated by Pakistan by 33 runs while chasing a target of 185. This is a must-win encounter for them, and if it is a washout, they would be eliminated by the result of the Bangladesh-Pakistan match.

On the other hand, Netherlands won one and lost three games. They were ousted from the semi-finals race and will seek to compete aggressively in this one before exiting the tournament.

Given the Group 2 points table, a win for South Africa will send them to the semi-finals.

Before bowing out of the tournament, the Netherlands team are expected to come hard against the Proteas and thus, the team needs to be cautious.

As a batting unit, the Temba Bavuma-led side failed to put up a show against the Men in Green, and that definitely needs to change in their match against the Netherlands at the Adelaide Oval.

The duo of Quinton De Kock and Temba Bavuma have failed to live up to their expectations so far in the tournament.

After his poor run of form, captain Bavuma finally showed some glimpses of his form as he scored a quick 36 off 19 deliveries, but that wasn’t enough for the Proteas to get a win.

The scorching trio of Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi and Anrich Nortje have been deadly so far.

Anrich Nortje himself has claimed 10 wickets so far in four matches while Rabada has two wickets so far but has been economical.

The third in the trio, Lungi Ngidi absolutely decimated the Indian batters in their match and has picked up seven wickets so far in three matches. Thus, against the Netherlands at a seam-friendly track, these three pacers can cause havoc in the middle.

Shamsi will be the lone spinner in the playing XI as Keshav Maharaj is likely to remain unavailable.

The spinner has played just two matches so far and has picked up four wickets. However, the pitch at Adelaide will be very different from that of Sydney and thus, it needs to be seen how he adjusts with the conditions.

The Dutch bowlers bowled brilliantly and knocked over Zimbabwe on 117, with Paul van Meekeren finishing with three scalps. Max O’Dowd scored a fifty at the top of the order as it helped the Dutch side chase down the total in 18 overs.

The Netherlands will be riding with confidence and will be looking to spoil the party of the Proteas today?!

Pakistan

Played: 4, Points: 4, NRR: 1.117, Rem match: vs Ban (Adelaide)

Despite the convincing win against South Africa, Pakistan will still need help from outside to qualify. They need to beat Bangladesh, of course, but that won't be enough if India and South Africa win their matches on Sunday. To qualify, Pakistan will need at least one of these two to happen along with their victory:

South Africa either lose or have their game against Netherlands abandoned. In that case, even though they could finish on a maximum of six points, they will be below Pakistan as they will have two wins to Pakistan's three. Number of wins is the first tie-breaker between teams, then net run rate.

India lose to Zimbabwe. In that case, Pakistan's superior net run rate over India will see them through.

This all went above my head. Does that mean I have to support Netherlands and Zimbabwe for Pakistan to have a chance? 🥺
