Aaron Finch spent almost all of Australia's training session on Thursday (November 3) in deep one-on-one conversations with his senior players. If he wasn't laying on his stomach and chatting with his vice-captain Matthew Wade in the corner of the training area in Adelaide, he was exploring some attacking shot ideas with Mitchell Marsh, except the time he was sharing a laugh with former housemate Glenn Maxwell. What Finch didn't do was train himself. In fact, he only occasionally even got his hands out of his pockets on what was a surprisingly sunny late afternoon in the South Australian capital.

The availability of Aaron Finch and Tim David - both suffering from hamstring injuries - is still unclear. They do have sufficient firepower in the bench in the form of Cameron Green and Steve Smith to replace them. The Aussies are eyeing a big win while Nabi and Co. are searching for their first win. It's the first time these two sides are facing off against each other in this format. What's in store?

Australia, one of the favourites coming into the competition, are in a tricky situation. Their 89-run loss against their Trans-Tasman rivals is still hurting them. So the equation for them is to win today and then hope for Sri Lankan win over England tomorrow at the SCG. Afghanistan, on the other hand, are out of the semifinal race. Rain played spoilsport in two of their games and their batters let them down in their losses to England and Sri Lanka. They'll be keen to sign off on a high and they have a guy who is no stranger to Adelaide. Rashid Khan, Adelaide Strikers' superstar, up against Australia in what is a must-win game for the Aussies. 'Wickets for Rashid, win for Australia' is probably what the fans will be hoping for today.

New Zealand have beaten Ireland by 35 runs. Have they become the first semifinalist? Well, technically not. If Afghanistan bat first, the Kiwis will be through.

What does it mean?? I am unable to understand the logic behind it!! 🤪

There are a few fitness concerns for the defending champions. The availability of Aaron Finch and Tim David - both suffering from hamstring injuries - is still unclear. All the teams have just one match left to play in the Super 12s and we still don't have a confirmed semifinalist. This has been a tremendous tournament and let's hope the trend continues as we head into the business end of it. Sixteen teams took part in this competition and fifteen of them have registered at least one win. The only team yet to win will lock horns against the hosts.

If Afghanistan bats first, Australia won't get a chance to beat them with a big margin. They won't get a chance to increase their NRR.

Cheers..

JUST IN: Aaron Finch has been ruled out of this game! He just found some form with a Player of the Match award-winning performance against Ireland. In his absence, Wade will captain Australia today. "Mitchell Starc with his keeping gloves on and Kane Richardson warming up. And Tim David helping with fielding practice & Steve Smith taking high catches while Green marks his run up. Expecting a series of changes,".
