The first we actually dominated SL was in 2005 thanks to Dhoni :) That 7 match series. Even after that SL used to win here and there but since Kohli came we have hardly lost to SL, so much is the dominance that there are memes that whenever the BCCI wants public to forget about a loss they call SL and beat them black and blue. 𤣠In 2017, India thrashed SL both Home and away. 9-0 Away and 6-1 at home. And as for 2007. It was always on the cards. The team balance was so bad. đ¤Ş
I said 1999 as we won like 1 match against SL for every 3-4 matches if not more đbut after the 1999 WC, our records improved in ODI's. We won against SL in 99 & 2003 WC, joint winners in Champions Trophy, where weird finals happened - SL batted full 50 overs 2 times, only to be washed out both the times - without Indian even batting for even 10 overs. The Sri Lankan batsmen who really tormented me more than Sanath Jayasurya was a wicket keeper batsman called "Lanka Desilva", he played only in one or 2 series against India & our bowlers had no clue, how to get him out 𤣠As far as I recall, he remained not out in all of the matches against us, not sure what exactly happened to him... this was before Sangakkara ..
lolzz, that's true... SL became our favorite punching bag to cover our losses, everyone piled on records 𤣠Till date, SL still hasn't won a test match in India - even after being an Asian nation, imagine that đ
