India edge home a win in a thrilling encounter. And they have to thank their fielding - mostly KL - and also the rain for helping them with this one. The game was totally in Bangladesh's grasp when Litton Das was going hammer and tongs. 66 for no loss they were when rain came down and they were 17 ahead on DLS par at that stage. They would've won had the rain stayed put. But things changed post the rain, first ball, Das slipped while going back for a second and if that wasn't warning enough, next ball he stumbled while going back for the second and was run-out with a direct-hit from KL. That proved to be the turning point of the game as the much-criticised Indian fielding turned up on the night. Bangladesh skied everything up from that point and India caught them all. There was a late hint of a heist from Nurul Hasan and Taskin Ahmed but Hardik in the penultimate over and Arshdeep Singh in the last kept their nerve to ensure India didn't suffer a defeat - which would've been almost fatal for them in terms of the semi-final race.

Live visuals show a young Bangladeshi supporter crying as her father tries to console. The father too has tears but is trying hard to control that. Taskin Ahmed too has a tear or two while the other Bangladeshis look despondent. They were firm favorites thanks to Litton Das but their poor record against India in ICC tournaments continues. This was a game there for the taking and they will be bitterly disappointed at a potential semi-final spot slipping away right under their eyes. For India, a major embarrassment avoided and they are well on track to reach the semis and maybe even top the group if South Africa slip up.

Virat Kohli: Pretty close game. Not as close as we would have liked it to be. A good day with the bat. When I went in there was a bit of pressure. I didn't want little mistakes to curb by instincts. I am in a happy place. I don't want to compare it with the past. As soon as I knew the WC is in Australia, I was grinning from ear to ear. Good cricketing shots will be the key. here is what I know Hitting through the line is what I do in every format. It is just an extension for me. I love playing at this ground. This makes me feel at home. When I come to Adelaide, I am meant to enjoy myself and keep batting.
