Pakhi vs Dithi in Sreemoyee

Just revisited Sreemoyee for old plot points and realized there is such a diametric difference between how Pakhi and her Bengali version Dithi had been written.

Though major twist seems similar that both will marry a guy their father hates and move away, Dithi was such a strong and independent character. She worked hard to become a doctor and married a poor guy who was an ex-con villager but good at heart and moved to his village to help the villagers while everyone except Sreemoyee and Rohit were against it. Later she has a tiff with her husband because he supports Sreemoyee but she doesn't.

Pakhi looks like such a poor copy of her. She is fickle, stupid and irritating and consider dropping out of college and becoming an elite housewife as life-goals. Though I can predict the same twist will happen that Pakhi-Adhik will marry with only MaAn's help and with Adhik possibly turning positive, there might be a situation where he supports Anupamaa but Pakhi doesn't, but it's looks so shallow.

When Anupamaa initially started, I found it to be interesting and Sreemoyee to be boring mainly because the only 2 purely evil characters of Patralekha and June were unnecessarily outrageous and repetitive and at that time Kavya seemed more practical and Leela was shown to sympathize with Anupamaa.

But I guess Anupamaa was new and Sreemoyee was in it's slump phase.

Comparing it now, Sreemoyee seems far more broadminded.

There the father-in-law moved out immediately when he saw his wife and son spew crap against Sreemoyee and Rohit all the time unlike Hasmukh here,

Anita was a much stronger character than Kinjal,

Sreemoyee achieved financial independence and an identity first and then focused on her love life.

And look at this show...

The whole purpose of showing all the other characters vile is to highlight Anupama’s character as being the victim and yet being strong. The writers have no idea how to show the strengths of the main character without downgrading others. And THAT is precisely the reason that this show is going to the dump.

Even Aai Kuhe Kay Karte, the marathi version by the same PH is better than Anupamaa by leaps and bounds. Arundhati is independent, she has her singing career, she has now enrolled herself in a graduate class to complete her education. She teaches music in a music school that is a joint venture between her and Ashutosh. Arundhati is friends with Ashutosh, slowly falling for him, she knows he loves her but she is in no way dependent on him nor is she a doormat for her ex-in-laws. Isha from AKKK, is still studying she did have a relationship before and now has broken up but she is not an airhead like Pakhi. Pakhi is the stereotypical bimbo who wants luxurious life without any effort. Isha has supported Aniruddha, her father more than her mother, she too felt embarrassed by Arundhati when Arundhati enrolled in the same college, but Isha is not vile and mannerless like Pakhi, she does see right from wrong.

Exactly! Everywhere and everything only anupama knows and only anupama is right. That is the main fault in hindi story. To progress her they r not empowering her but instead downgrading every other character. Ruined every good character

Serial mein na to saare character positive hote aur na saare character negative hote hai

They make positive and negative character because it is demand of story not because they want to show how main lead is good among other character

Agar anupama ko sabse Acha dikhana Hota to Devika kinjal Dolly bhi negative hoti aur kavya wapas kabhi positive nahi hoti

Bus El cheej kharaab lagti hai isme women ko hi se responsible mana jaata hai ki women hi Ghar todti hai women hi laalchi hoti Hai while men are totally milk wash

Now it will shown adhik totally saint and whole blame will go to barkha

Agree Aai kuthe kay karte is a much better show.

The characters are real and relatable, not caricatures like in Anupamaa.

Arundhati is way more capable, practical…almost formidable. She doesn’t speak gibberish like Anu. She gives it back to Aniruddha and the ex MIL and does not tolerate character assassination. The kids are all essentially similar but less evil, less extreme, more relatable. Arundhati concentrates more on her career and education.

BUT…there is no chemistry between the leads. Arundhati and Ashutosh just dont look or feel like a couple. MaAn were fireworks from day one.

And MaAn are the only reason so many of us are still here.

Bold - I will agree to that, Anuj Kapadia his silent unrequited love for Anupama which he didn’t even want to hope for let alone express, brought me to this show
