Accha, this is a Banish The Cultural Stereotype thread.


Not ALL Maharashtrians are ghaati.


Ghaati = People who reside/belong to the Sahyadri region/Western Ghats


Also, people need to really disassociate that word from negative connotations.

Being a ghaati does not mean someone is uneducated, uncivil, ill-mannered.

The sense of belonging is seen as a pride in the Konkan region.
