I believe for it to be perceived as a joke, the people at whose expense the joke is being cracked, either need to be there laughing along or should have signed off on it on an earlier occasion otherwise it is just plain nasty to comment on something that's so personal to someone.
Again, Ms.Dentist ( I don't even feel the need to undertake the effort of learning her name) is someone who is entitled enough in her head to spew any nonsense that comes to her mind about others but the moment someone makes even a tiny comment about something that she considers personal, she cries foul and creates a ruckus.
If you can't take it then please don't dish it out because rules such as this one must uniformly apply to everyone.
