They are a typical patriarchal traditional family. Probably due to roots in UP.

Amitabh and Jaya's misogyny is there for anyone to see given how they made Ash do totke or called her domesticated or said she is quiet, she stands behind, she listens. Or Jaya used to wear pallu on head sometime in 80s in public appearances and pics for media with family.

AB Sr got Shweta married off too soon. Jaya was also stricter for Shweta compared to Abhishek and in all family interviews it is the men who talk over women and do not let them speak much or speak over them.

They are superstitious AF and only reason why AB sr did not divorce Jaya to marry Rekha is because his parents were against it and astrologers told him Jaya's kundali saved his life post Coolie accident and that he suffered that accident due to Rekha who has bad stars.

Those too posh to push tweets after Aaradhya's birth also tell what AB sr is. He and Jaya or Shweta never promoted Ash or her work. Especially after Abhishek entirely sank as male lead in films.

Amitabh promoting Shweta's book was a surprise and so was promoting Navya's podcast or gender activism stuff. It is unusual for him and Jaya to promote work of even daughters and granddaughters.

They are very orthodox. They would never let Aaradhya or Navya enter showbiz either and they did ensure Jaya did not work after marriage either.

Outsiders are not always supportive. Asin's husband was clear he did not want her to act at all after marriage. She yielded.

Meenakshi Seshadri's in laws and husband and even her kids do not want her to work or make comeback. She quit after marriage and now also says she can work only if her family allows.

Niki Aneja, TV queen of 90s, also quit showbiz after marriage to an NRI. Purbi Joshi had good comic timing but her NRI husband made her totally disappear from showbiz after marriage and I have not even seen her in online gigs.

Madhuri is the only one whose husband supports her career. Otherwise outsiders or industry guys, all make women quit work after marriage.

I bet Bacchans are looking for a super rich heir for Navya, that’s why flashing her everywhere but not letting her get into Bollywood.

I tried to do some research on the Bachchans after reading all the 'wonderful' posts about them in this forum 😆 and I do agree they're not as great as they show themselves. For some reason I never liked Sr Bachchan and after reading some stuff about him I have started disliking him even more.

However I need to clear one thing about Jaya Bachchan. Quite a few people here claimed Jaya stopped acting after her marriage because the Bachchans didn't let her do which is completely false. I checked her Wikipedia. She got married in 1973 and was active in movies till 1975. After the birth of her two children she cut down on her work which was quite understandable as her kids were too small but was still doing movies till 1981. After the release of Silsila in '81 she took long break from bollywood.

Nope. Amitabh once told her he would like to see her and get meals served by her whenever he comes home. Indirectly hinting he was not keen that she work.

Another incident is of one of her kids asking her if she will also leave like papa, when she was putting on make up and getting ready to leave for work, which made her reconsider whether she should work or not.

It is not like she herself quit after kids. Sharmila, Hema etc all worked after marriage and were not really stopped or given hints to not work. Neetu and Jaya had rather clear briefs from Kapoors and Bachchans who were not keen their wives or DILs work as actors.

Even when Jaya returned post ABCL failure, she returned as producer for TV shows and not as actress. Her acting comeback was way later in Fiza, K3G etc.

So many examples, but one, This Shweta Bachchan, why is she okay with her son being in movies but not her daughter? And then she portrays herself to be well educated with a modern and elite attitude. Initially she said she didn’t want Navya to be an actress because she didn’t want her to face what Abhishek faced and yet … her son can be an actor?

Navya very obviously wants to be an actor. She has a podcast now, doing interviews, cute start ups etc. did a commercial with L’Oréal and blue tick on Instagram. Geez. Why does she listen to her mom? Just go and do it. She’s def smarter than other nepo’s.

Also their whole dynamic with Aishwarya is so backwards and regressive. No wonder she looks bad and has made horrible career choices. It’s so obvious they’re jealous of her and hate the fact that she’s better than Abhishek.

Are they against feminism or something? Or they just hate everyone except Shweta?

just one thing, Aishwerya doesn’t look bad. I just saw PS1 today and she was looking heaven sent beautiful
