its great that mani carried off what is so close tamil people, finally it is the film maker not the actors, proved again, not easy to do justice to a book, great he did it even in his non-peak period, enjoyed the movie
but ARR's music was really bought it down, some bgm was like arabic beats, then some ridiculous claps, he could have used some carnatic music since cholas were saivites
the camera was shaky in crucial scenes maybe for natural effect but didnt work
also why so much whitening of aishwariya, she was looking so pale in some scenes, when features are sharp then they anyway look good
it is sad because mani cast totally unexpected actors in their natural selves in his earlier movies, that was his usp
as somebody said Trisha has lightened her skin a lot, our obession with not fair but white skin puts pressure on actors like her, kajol, deepika etc to whiten themsleves
