PS1 is basically from South and VV is basically for North.....Navratri is not a huge thing is South as much as it is in the North....I am fasting for all of Navratri...this time of the year is the biggest one for us North Indians....as far as I know ...it is not the same in South....is it??#genuinequestion....I am speaking only based on what my friends from South have told me...

The real question is why does it cost 175 Cr? If it cost a reasonable amount like Super 30, the weekend would look pretty solid.

Wrong release date? This is Hrithik's third Navratri/Gandhi Jayanti release. War and Bang Bang were both within Navratri. Clearly there haven't been any jumps either, so the WOM isn't particularly strong. It's also getting absolutely crushed by PS1 overseas.

I think it's a mix of the remake and the audience just no longer being interested in non-spectacle films in theaters.

It is very huge. People fast, do elaborate rituals and puja, visit the pandals, schools have holidays the entire 10 days. It is the most celebrated festival, even ahead of Deepavali.

Wasn’t War a Navrathri release? And I also remember watching Andhadhun during the Navrathris.

Original VV is available on OTT since quite some time. Nowadays more and more people are accessing content through streaming apps. It's possible that many have seen this already on OTT platform.

Why trouble oneself for a remake when the original version can be watched on OTT at much lesser cost?

Navratri is big in most states in South India too. And South Indians fast during Navratri too just as those in the North.

In fact I will go as far as calling it as even bigger than North India. I visited Delhi during one of the Navrathris and there was hardly any visible celebrations but you come to any street on most of the South Indian states( may be except Kerala) you will see pandals at every inch of the place with songs and bhajans reverberating the whole place and people turning up in huge numbers to the temples.I know UP celebrates it really big but UP is just one state and cannot be called as the whole North India.

In south India though it is celebrated as the various avatars of Durga ma and how She squashed the evil( I think same as Bengalis) but in North India or UP it is celebrated ad Ram’s victory over Ravan.
