only PS1 is based on a book. His film VV is a remake of a Tamil film with the same name.

Basically, he's saying, I didn't read the book so I don't care about PS1, but only VV.

Here I have to confess that I have watched Aamir's KWK episode. There he kept on repeating that he doesn't watch movies much so he shouldn't be asked questions related to movies. 😲

Maamu only watches Hollywood films so he’s right he shouldn’t be asked about Indian cinema.
But the RRR case was funny because from what I have read Rajamouli was right there promoting LSC when Maamu said he hasn’t watched RRR. You get a legendary director to promote your stupid film and then say you haven’t watched his film ( a massive blockbuster no less )

PS is made for a southern audience primarily, and a lot of southerners know the story. Maybe Mani Ratnam didn't feel the need to cater to the rest.
