Thank you, Viswasruti, for the comment migration of all three stories. I checked the comment migration for Antarāya-timir'opaśāntaye, and it worked beautifully on the whole.

I will mention a few general issues that the technical team might fix to improve the comment migration process for everyone's fan fictions.

1. Paragraph breaks in posts are lost during migration. Could the migration process recognize and retain paragraph breaks, including blank-line-in-between breaks? I edited my own comments to reintroduce the breaks.

2. Hyperlinked words within posts are totally deleted when they become comments. Could the visible text be kept even when the URL is deleted? (When I copy-and-paste from a post into a comment-reply, hyperlinks become plain text automatically. Why not during comment migration?) I edited my own comments to retype the missing words so that sentences make sense again.

3. Some comments have metadata at the end of the text: who posted and the date and time. I suspect that this is caused by the process determining that replies posted before Chapter Two should become comments under Chapter One, and replies posted after Chapter Two should become comments under Chapter Two.

Examples:

https://www.indiaforums.com/fanfiction/chapter/21774

has a newest migrated comment ending with "Radiant_Eyes_2021-08-05 12:15:53"

https://www.indiaforums.com/fanfiction/chapter/21775

has an oldest migrated comment ending with "hapc2021-08-22 18:27:55"

4. Posts that are too long appear as comments that are cut off at the character limit, even in the middle of a word. I edited my own comments to continue in a self-reply. Could the migration process include checking the length of each post, and if it's too long, splitting it at the previous paragraph break or other punctuation to continue in a comment-reply?

5. Some emojis in posts appear in comments, but "smiley27" or "smiley42" or "smiley32" doesn't appear for some reason.

In response to your question, "is it possible for you to delete those or not??" - as the author, I don't have the privilege to delete anyone else's comments. I see the Edit/Delete wheel next to my own comments, but for everyone else's comments, there's only a Report flag button.

I will now check the migrated comments for the other two stories, and if there are no problems, I will just edit this post to say so, since I don't want to spam the thread. Thanks again for the help with all three stories.

Edited to add: The non-comment posts that were off-topic in the thread did get migrated in spite of my request to exclude them. It's not a big problem for me, but it would be good if FFEditors had the ability to de-select posts during comment migration.

A few members complained regarding this issue earlier, we referred it to tech team. They will rectify this according to their convenience.

Please refer this issue to FF section thread -- Fan Fiction Section Features Wish List & Task List

Our Administrator and his team will try to resolve this.

3. Some comments have metadata at the end of the text: who posted and the date and time. It seems, it is a long time problem, and we put a request already regarding this. Let us wait for the rectification of all these issues.

That is why I asked you to check, and if you wish to delete any comment, please give me the details of that comment -- the link of that FF, the chapter number and the clear mention of that particular comment etc. I will help you in this regard.

I will now check the migrated comments for the other two stories, and if there are no problems, I will just edit this post to say so, since I don't want to spam the thread. Thanks again for the help with all three stories.

I found an issue that may occur in general, so I'm describing the example here, rather than in a PM to Viswasruti.

When someone writes a reply within a quote HTML box (see this example), the post that looks like only a quote gets migrated as a blank comment, as you can see here (scroll down to the comment by Zara2021, click Show Responses, and you'll see the blank reply by Zara2021):

https://www.indiaforums.com/fanfiction/chapter/21556

Viswasruti, if I asked you to copy the post into the blank comment, the font colours would be lost and readers wouldn't be able to tell what is quote and what is reply. So, instead, I am requesting you to edit Zara2021's blank reply to paste in the text below. All three of my replies to her comment are pieces of one post, and her reply is to all of them, so would it be possible for you to move her reply to the end of replies to her comment, please? Thank you.

Zara2021 replied:

Love how friendly it is. I think it will compliment Pallavi's caring ways and may bring out Raghav's softer side. I actually like how Damayanti was pulled towards Mandaar and this irked Raghav. Raghav needs to learn to share smiley37

I wish the show also explored more about the impact of Raghav's actions on everyone else's life. So many people have been affected by his impulsive actions.

BrhannadaArmour wrote:

I noticed another issue that you can observe when you go to Chapter Seven, linked in the post above, and scroll down to the comments.

https://www.indiaforums.com/fanfiction/chapter/21556

The comment by hapc is followed by Show Responses (1), but clicking the link doesn't show my response. I think this post failed to migrate correctly into a comment-reply because I first posted Chapter Eight, then quote-replied to hapc's post on Chapter Seven.

I am leaving it as it is for now, so that you can show it to the tech team if you wish, and they can test ways to fix it if they wish. When you are done with it, I can just copy my post into a series of new comment-replies.

Thanks for your help with these issues.

@BrhannadaArmour

I understand that you wanted me to change the comments, i.e, to separate the quotes and replies based on their sequence, and also change the font colour. Right?

Unfortunately, as an FFE, I only have the right to delete the comments, from other members' FF/SS/OS; that too, if any comment sounds derogatory, and the writer requests to delete it. I am not permitted to modify comments in anyone else's FF, or change the order of quotes or replies, or alter the font colours.

You can choose to modify your own comments, but not those of others.

When I checked the 4 replies you've given to that comment, in that, you've already separated the quotes of that member and your answers systematically. And as I mentioned, changing font colour is not possible, so you made it clear to yourself as a writer and to the inquisitive comment readers, what is her quote and what is your answer.

You tried your best to rectify the problem in your own way already.

Thanks for explaining. I knew that font colours don't exist in comments, and that is why I asked if you could mark up the text that belongs in the blank comment-reply. Now I understand that you are not supposed to edit the migrated comment at all. I think there should be an exception allowing you to fix blank comments by exact copy-and-paste of the post that was left behind, but in this case, the exact text wouldn't be clear anyway.

Zara2021's comment and my three-part reply are fine, but since this post (her reply to my reply) was left behind, I did the copy-and-paste into a reply myself.

Thanks again!

I noticed another comment migration issue in Chapter Eleven: this post by Couch.Potato that is visible in the forum topic got migrated into a comment by C1203404 as "This content is hidden." My quote-reply to the post didn't get migrated, and there is no Reply button under the hidden content comment, so I can't fix the issue myself.

https://www.indiaforums.com/fanfiction/chapter/21560

The issue might be caused by Couch.Potato (member 1203404) being Inactive.

Assuming that you are not authorized to edit this hidden content comment to paste in the exact text of the post, I simply pasted my non-migrated quote-reply into a new comment.

However, I don't understand why an Inactive member's post, which hasn't been censored in the forum, has to be censored as a Fan Fiction section migrated comment, why its quote-reply has to be censored too, and why it can't have a Reply button. Should the tech team be asked to allow normal comment migration of such posts and their quote-replies?

This comment migration has seen several teething issues since it commenced.

As an FFE, I'm attempting to assist the writers in moving their forum comments to the FF section.

The technical team is making every effort to resolve these persistent problems on a regular basis in order to help the authors, and lessen the difficulties they encounter.

Regarding the Couch.Potato (member 1203404) comment issue, I have noticed that you already posted it as your comment in your Chapter 11 in a detailed manner to facilitate yourself and to your readers and further commenting members.
