What they can do is apply zero makeup and have them film as they look, that is enough because that is what everyone is like. Slum dog millionaire was literally based on life in slums and yet they had the foresight to not resort to nonsense like this. They had Dev Patel and Frieda shoot without makeup as they were and nobody questioned its validity because that is what humans look like.
You might want to watch what Irrfan (or could've been Nawaz) said about Danny Boyle's comments.
He auditioned Bollywood actors for his cast, and everyone looked too good (paraphrasing). Too pretty, too buff.
He hired relative newbies partly for that reason. They looked like ordinary people.
I suppose the makers could've pulled a Danny Boyle and hired a regular-looking person to be Vedha instead of Hrithik.
